New acquisition and my first attempts at photos
Last spring I asked for advice on my first purchase and Graham suggested a Grand Seiko. I bought several very nice Swiss watches locally before venturing onto the internet to look for vintage ones, with some hits and misses of course. Finally I decided to risk a bid on a vintage GS with a pretty dial out of Asia on ebait and apparently overbid because it is now mine. I picked it up at the post office, met my husband for dinner, opened the package and he exercised "droit de seigneur" and got to wear it first. It is now returned to me and I love this watch - a high beat 4520A movement - manual no date just clean and pretty. Please excuse the photos, but I haven't got proper lights to go with the new camera.

I drooled over a GS GMT...
... over the weekend in Hong Kong. They are available there too, via authorised Dealers and single boutique in Tsim Sa Tsui. Very impressed.
Ginger, my only regret is that i didnt tell you i had a spare one :)
nice purchase and i like the linen look dial. i was going to sell my GS56 hi beat auto to help fund the MIH, but i'm not so sure i want to now.
it seems weird that someone would take my advice and weirder still that Nicholas would think it often good advice, but thats just a lack of self esteem i suppose

Yes, I know the feeling
as I fell in love with them when I first saw photos of it. I don't "usually" buy a watch without first trying it on but this one, well, you already know...

Ginger, the GS45 calibre you...
Ginger, the GS45 calibre you have bought is
possibly one of the highest quality hi beat movements ever made. that and the 57
calibre are, i think, the 2 best Seiko movements prior to the new Grand
Seiko's and Credors. still accurate to within a second or 2 a day if maintained
well. i can see your husband giving it a lot of wrist time.

I am in that state of new watch love where one can't help gazing at the new object. I was mesmerized by the second hand (which appears to float continuously around the dial - you have to look very closely to see the tiny "beats") as I sat at a daytime baseball game today in perfect weather while my beloved team mounted a late rally to win.
