This year was extremely successful for me.
I spent 10 wonderful months with colleague’s Purists learning
& sharing passion for these “small objects of beauty that mesmerize”
Title of Assistant professor in Molecular phylogenetics and evolution is within a grasp and what is most important to me is that my first child (son) is born.
Of course, I immediately wanted to mark this event in a way worthy of the man madly in love with watches so I began my quest through thick and thin for appropriate watch to celebrate this event and what is more important to present it to my son one day. Although many will say that Patek imposes logical choice I wanted something not so trivial :0).
After the birth of a child vacation season soon came so I took enough time to make my decision. I was looking at watches all the days and most of the nights …. walking to shops and ADs …. reading all the posts on the PuristS. This last was, as I expected, important and helpful.
First what appeared was AnthonyT post on St. Gallen Disinfectable Watch. At that moment I thought OK …. cool watch ….
A post by MTF about SE for the PuristS came next .. I thought OK … nice touch ….
Then, AndrewD wrote in a post that we should, and allow me to paraphrase, help to our community by purchasing an ABR PuristPro edition, which has already made been for us, I thought OK …. man got a point …. but all that time I was still tormented not knowing what to get for my baby.
Finally among one of the posts correspondence started about watches made in the year of our birth between me and Nicolas and he suggested to me that I should purchase for a son an Omega Alaska project or Polaris Re-edition to keep with family tradition.
And then it just dawned on me ... that's it .... There is simply no better way to convey my love for the watches on my son and demonstrate simultaneously how much I love him than to acquire ABR PuristSPro Edition for him.
Why? Because this place represents the best possible way of telling him how big is my passion for watches and because this is a place where I, after 20 years of love for watches, finally find peers who understand me, think alike and share the same obsession.
In the first moment of excitement, I almost ordered from Anthony watch with wrong serial number .... thrill was so intense that in the third attempt I realized I wanted ABR with serial number which corresponds to the date of my sons birthday.
When this happened ….. it was epiphany …..
At the end of this lengthy expose allow me to thank Anthony, MTF, AndrewD and last but not the last Nicolas (MERCI mon ami!) your post made it possible that all of the hints locks into place.
I’m so happy!
And now the picture show

And of course obligatory wrist-shot!

P.S. Patek perhaps have a slogan for the next generation, but PuristS Pro has the next generation.
Sincerely
Damian
Dear Damian
That’s a brilliant story, full of emotion and passion; just what we thrive on here.
Watches have long been used to mark important life events and it is great to see this tradition continue.
Looks like you will need to order the ultra-short strap for your new son. But believe me that he will grow into it quicker than you think.
A very special time that many of us can relate to. My sincere congratulations.
Andrew
You helped me to see what is important
I'll treasure this moments dearly
Best
Damian
it is always tremendous pleasure to share among
dear people
Thank you
Damian
Bimbeano my fried
there is no place like HoME
but I must admit that I will not wear this watch at all
It will be safeguarded for my son as long as he will
be grown enough to take it over and remove protective foils from it
Kindest regards
Damian
and considering the tempo of growth and appetite he has
we would not have to wait too long
Sincerely
Damian
I hope your son enjoys the ABR when you give it to him. Time flies by so fast when you have kids that when you finally give him the watch, it'll seem as if it was only yesterday when you placed your order for the ABR. I can't believe my eldest is already 4!
Cheers,
Anthony
he enjoys it tremendously particularly when all 4
hands starts to move he gets excited so much that
I must stop showing it to him after 30 second
Thank you for all your support once more
Damian
and what is more important
all true unfortunately also a PART WHEN customs AT
MY COUNTY RIPPED ME OFF GOOD FOR IT :0)))
Sincerely
I have to admit that when I read your post, I fully understand why I spend so much time on this / our PPro Web site...
All is written here, my friend: Passion, Love , Friendship, All!
Damian, thank you to be here, and to share with us such a maginificient posts, and thanks for being my friend.
Very best to you and yours!
Nicolas
these years are ones you must treasure and make sure family comes first, something i now regret not doing. having a job that involved shift work didnt help, but i'm only now getting that special relationship with my children back as they turn into adults at 20 and 17. the middle years were a mess of working, illness, divorce etc etc......... dont let that happen at all costs including your career. its all too easy to let 1 days overtime drift into a lifetime of never being at home.
let him play with your less expensive watches as he grows up, he'll never break his own special watch and you never know, he may be moderator of the puristspro youth forum in later years.
congrats
Graham
and from your mouth to God’s ears for my son being PuristSPro moderator
this will surely make his daddy enormously proud
hmm.... can I be more proud of him LOL
Best
Damian
you brought tears to my eyes
Thank you for all the knowledge and
unstoppable energy you share with us
+ for allowing me to realize what I want and for stopping
anguish that I was going through
Writing this post I realized how tricky task it is
and when I look at your almost 10K post
I got anxious :0))
Thank you for your kind words
Sincerely
Thank you for sharing Damian, and congratulations!
