Horological Meandering

  Hi folks, does anyone in this vast forum have any information on a brand called Superatic? I have done endless web-searches and I have only found vague references and a
few examples on South American auction sites. I bought a beautiful example in 18k rose gold a few years back and I have decided to part with it but I would like to post a semi-intelligent  description to accompany the ad.  Any information or a reference point would be of great interest to me. ...but what does a Superatic watch look like?  Do you have any photos or thoughts to share about your own experience with the watch?  I've never come across the brand before.

 I finally got around to taking a few photos, please excuse the quality but it is just a point&shoot. When I removed the back for movement photos I noticed that this
watch has 17 jewel written on the dial but the movement is clearly marked 21 jewel, well a recase. I also found a "P" in a shield symbol and 320, I'm not familiar with this
this mark but I checked the original paperwork that I received with the watch and the seller stated that he suspected that this was a ebauch Fabrique d'Ebauches de Peseux SA.  The measurements are 33.79mm case minus crown, lug to lug 42.07 mm and thickness is 8.15mm. The watch is a very pleasant rose gold 18k and the dial seems to be untouched and quite striking. Thats all I can tell you and I would appreciate any information,  Thanks, Jim

i suspect that Superatic are one of those. i've been collecting for just under 20 years and i still see brands for sale that i've never heard of especially from the 60's. they all have unbranded swiss movements and usually resemble other brands.

this is a nice looking piece Jim and i would hazard a guess that it was pennies in comparison to other vintage pieces.

Thanks for the photos, Jim.  It looks like a very handsome watch with that great 60s flair.  I can picture the ad exec characters from the TV show Mad Men wearing such a timepiece.    Hopefully, some of the other members will have some information on the watch for you.

I started to do a little digging on this movement and I noticed that all the Peseux 320's are 17 jewel, I wonder if this movement was up-graded to 21 jewels or is this a frankenmovement? I have noticed that this particular movement was used by quite a few watch houses and modified for various highend timepieces. Thanks again for your thoughts and imputs, Jim

It's another one of those very nicely made obscure brands. It does not, however, show a discrepancy between stated and actual jewel count.
