Horological Meandering

After months and months changing my mind every 5 minutes here is my wish list for the future.Probably it will change again due to new releases but I'm confident that it will be very hard to replace one of the following watches as" I've been loving them too long" like Otis Redding used to sing.Here s the list and why........

1)DE BETHUNE DB 25.    My favourite independent by miles,these guys deserve the recognition of the whole watch world as they are true innovators.Their watches are to die for in terms of quality and finish,plus a captivating sleek design very difficult to find in an era where watches tends to look all the same.A breath of fresh air!!!!(by the way I like the blue titanium not the more classic one!)

2)LANGE and SOHNE ZEITWERK (white gold).No need to praise LaS for their quality of course,I just want to say that the ZW jumping hours and minutes are one of the most mesmerizing complications I've ever seen.This watch is just magic.The wg stands out by a mile ,the pt version is a touch dull to me.

3)JAEGER LE COULTRE DUOMETRE A CHRONOGRAPHE.The ultimate fudroyante,amazing layout of the dial and great concept.When all the functions are working this watch can hypnotize you.My fav is the pink gold verion as it creates contrast with the dial.Again the pt version is a bit too dull.I've seen the yellow gold lim ed just in pics and it looks fantastic;to be seen in metal.

4)HABRING2 TOURBILLON3D.I love the fact of owning a tourbi that can be used every day :solid,robust,precise and most of all in a SS case.The ultimate in understatement IMHO.

5)ULYSSE NARDIN SONATA SILICIUM.I had the pleasure to see (amanico 's) "regular"sonata and the watch is a marvel.The silicium version must be a dream.It s a great and useful complication and so poetic.Plus I don t own any striking watch and this is my favourite.

6)GLASSHUTTE ORIGINAL SENATOR CHRONOMETER.Its a chronometer that fully deserve such a name,when you pull the crown,it hacks,it zero resets and you can precisely regulate the minute hand.Now that is a chronometer!!!!!!I absolutely love it.

So this is my list and of course I 'd need to win the lottery to get them all anytime soon!!!!But we have plenty of hope.

DeBethune DB15 - my favorite QP ever
Journe Tourbillon - Either the old or the new, I'm not that picky
Patek 5110 - Not as implausable as the rest, I've just never gotten around to it

And to launch far out into imagination:
RD Sympathie Chrono - I want the old size and style of case, with the weird shaped crystal, and the current RD micro-rotor automatic chronograph. It'll never happen, but that's what I want!

With the exception of the DB25, every one on your list would be on mine. (Not that I don't like the DB25.)  I would replace it on my list with a Moser Perpetual 1.  If someone handed me a check for the purchase price and said I must spend it on a watch, the Perpetual 1 would be my first choice.  My order would be different from yours, though I'm not sure if you placed the watches in order of  desire.

1. Moser Perpetual 1.  I think it's the cat's pajamas.  Stealth perpetual, sleek, cool, handwound 7 day movement. And it has been such a long wait to see them appear. What's not to love?

2. Lange Zeitwerk.  Instant classic.  Loved by some, hated by others.  I'm a lover, not a hater.

3. JLC Duometre.  Handwound, column wheel, beautiful finishing.  Dual power reserves.  Need I say more?

4. GO Senator Chronometer.  I've yet to own a GO.  If I were to take the plunge, it would be this one.  Classic in every sense.  Watch out Lange, GO is coming up.

5. UN Sonata (SIlicium or not).  Someday, I'll be fortunate enough to own a repeater.  This seems like the best place to start.  The UN stands out, unlike any other in movement, case, dial and hands.  Beauty.

6. HABRING2 Tourbillon 3D . Richard and Maria have so much passion, and Richard's history with this complication is so rich.  To own his tourbillon and wear it, really wear it, would be a treat.

AND adding a few:

7. Panerai PAM 21.  You're either with me or your not on this one.  There's no explaining necessary.

8. VC Patrimony Traditionnelle Chronograph.  Beautifully finished Lemania handwound in what appears to be a gorgeous case.

9. Lange 1815.  This has 40mm winner written all over it.

10. Kari Voutinainen (anything).  You didn't think I was going to leave this off, did you?

When dreams and wishes blur into each other its great to dream.You can only dream what you might be able to get....who knows..not all at once...sometimes the hunt is worth more than the catch Nico.

If it was a pure dream list I would ve thrown in the Luna mundi set and half a dozen Tourbillon...oh yes and some repeaters......Plus I just bought some lottery tickets........I think they could be the winning ones......Mo

4/ KV round case, Peseux movement, white metal.

5/ AP Royal Oak Concept ( year 2002 ).

I didn t think you liked the Go PI ,I thought your eyes were on the rattrappante ........as far as your DREAM list ....wow now that is daydreaming ,Id set for the PP and close second the Gyro 1.Why not the whole hybris mechanica????Still prefear the reg Gyro than the skeleton though.Mo

Well, the Hybris Mechanica is not a Dream, but a pure nightmare!



A Grande Sonnerie is magic, but I'm so in love with my MMR, too.

So, A Gyro I and a PP 5102 G woiuld allow me to save for the other pieces of my Dream List...

You see...I'm reasonnable even in my dreams!

I tried on a RG silver dial piece earlier this week and despite its size and my small wrist, because of the curved sapphire back, it sits very snugly on my wrist.

It also look much much better in the metal than on th enet.  I'm on queue for the PT grey dial.

Fun game, Mo!  I love many of the watches on your list!  We often have similar tastes it seems.  Here are my lists -- one for when my eyes are still closed and I float inside my perfect dreamspace; the other for when my alarm clock has already buzzed me into reality.    I dream about so many watches, so this is certainly not an exhaustive list of coveted timepieces!  In no particular order of preference...

2) JLC Duometre (Undecided on which metal.  They are all too pretty.  Even dreaming about this model is painful!)

There are so many watches worth dreaming about.  It's nice to have some reach goals, and hopefully if I work hard, and save a bit here and there, I can pick up some watches from both my lists over time!  I'm in the process of making a big residential purchase, so watch funds are depleted for the moment!   

I have to live vicariously through my fellow PuristS!
