How a mechanical watch works........
Hi All,
AndrewD's beautiful escapement shots combined with his comment of about his son asking questions, got me thinking about all the different books that I read when I wanted to understand how a mechanical watch works. Most explanations tend to get too detail oriented and forget about summarizing the principles which can be grasped by a non-engineer or a kid. Until I found this video made in 1949 by Hamilton. It is absolutely the most succinct explanation till date for me. Take a look and I would be interested if anybody else has a better one.

It was very funny. It made me think that not a great deal has happened i the world of watch advertising in those +60 years. The stories they emphesize and the claims seem more or less the same ;-) however it did not make it less enjoyable
