Having a lazy day at home? Need something to take your mind off the treats in store at Basel? Looking for an excuse to re-visit an old friend in the watchbox? Welcome to ‘Big Watch Week’.
Some of you may remember the shared fun of ‘Smaller Watch Week’ in November. Indeed, who could ever forget Art’s excruciating dedication to the cause? –

(If you want a reminder of that week to put yourself in the mood, click here and then click here ).
The proposal is simple: spend this week wearing the biggest watch you own. It doesn't matter what that watch is or how long since it was last worn. It may be that you have only one watch, a 32mm vintage Patek that you wear every day. Wear that one. It may be that amongst the fifty watches you own you have a 60mm Panerai Egiziano that you have never been brave enough to wear in public. Wear that one. (C’mon Amanico, you know you want to do this!).

Remind yourself how it feels to wear a larger (and probably heavier) watch than you might be used to. Deal with the issues that arise: finding shirt cuffs that will accommodate the case; explaining to business colleagues why you are wearing a clock; ignoring the quizzical looks at the formal function, and so on. See if you are still holding your hand behind your back as you walk after a few hours; after a day; after a week.
See if you can ‘hang in there’ for the week, and then come back at the end of the week so we can all read and see what we think about the bigger watch sizes after living with them for a while. Will we have a renewed fondness for the ‘XXL’ pieces? Will we find them just too uncomfortable, heralding perhaps the start of a swing back towards smaller sizes?
Please join in – the more the merrier! What will you be wearing???
Cheers,
pplater.

I trust there isn't anything tongue in cheek about the "large" request....

This one is different in every possible way to 'Brent', who featured so prominently in Smaller Watch Week. Have you given this one a name also?
It will be very interesting to see if you manage to carry off so much.... presence... throughout the week. All the best!

There's one in every crowd....

... in 'PPro ABR Red' !
Shame about the rectangular case though....

... it may be 'only' 44mm, but it's no shrinking violet! The Panerais have such 'heft' that you almost have to allow a '+2mm' OP factor on the wrist, don't you feel?
It will be really interesting to see which watch in this thread turns out to be the biggest, but also which big watch 'wears the smallest'.
Enjoy the week with your PAM,

Massive RM case and EXTREMELY thick. But the way how the watch case is designed, this monster watch not only is extremely comfortable on the wrist but also wears great on small wrists IMO.
My vote for largest watch which wears the smallest goes to the RM11.

Anthony

(p.s. - love the white Eames chair in the background!).

I have 2 Panerai's in 47mm - a Luminor and a Radiomir. I've been wearing my 47mm Radiomir for the past 2 weeks straight and into my 3rd week.
What is there not to love about large watches? If my small 6.75" wrist can wear a 47mm Radiomir, then surely many other people with larger wrists can pull it off as well. It's all about perception in your mind, and it's time to alter it.
And btw, while waiting in line to pay for some groceries today at the supermarket, the gentleman in front of me was wearing a puny 40mm Panerai Luminor. I think the model was the exact same PAM159 that my wife wears. He was well over 6 feet tall and probably had a 7.5" or 8" wrist. I was thinking to myself, he should man up and wear a 47mm Luminor since he's got such a large wrist
Cheers,
Anthony
