Horological Meandering

Hi all,

to answer to our dear moderator Andrew, here is a thread I would like to launch.  I know that  many of us enjoy playing with the the personality of a watch fitting it with different straps.  There are numerous combinations, one can emphasize or smoothen the personality of a watch, dress it up, make it look more sporty, more tool watch, more modern, more retro, brighter, darker...This is also a good way of enjoying wearing a different watch without having to spend too much as not all watch fans can afford having 20 or more watches to choose from.

My personal choice goes more towards strong personality watches and my appearance of old rugby player doesn't fit with thin dress watches! I go more for sports, tool watches and especially enjoy vintage watches. So to fit my personality I try to find some combinations, sometimes surprising, to emphasize the already strong personality of my watches.

So, Steel, Rubber, fabrics, reptile, fish or any kind of leather, colors...show us your combos, here are some example from me:

 1. Vintage super compressor two color nato straps combos for the summer

 

2. Vintage Heuer Chrono with custom made blue veal strap with red painted sport holes to replicate the chrono hands 

 

3. Vintage Jaeger 4 ATM with custom green ostitch shin strap to replicate the greenish dial 

4. Vintage Omega Seamaster 300 with galuchat (sting ray) strap

Show us your combos...

I have a plain brown cordovan strap on my Breguet La Tradition, you can sorta see it in the picture (sorry about the odd pic, not surprisingly all my Tradition pics are of the head, the movement is so fantastic as to overshadow the strap at all times)

Attila did a super job on that!

. . . he just happened to have one that fit the Seiko 5 to a "T". Coincidentally, it's the very same one you saw on his vintage Connie a few months ago.

Not only is it super comfy, but the newly visible scalloped section between the lugs adds a touch of complexity to the appearance . . .

As a latent strapaholic we obviously need to keep you way away from Panerai!

A great strap, offered to me by a very good friend, for one of my beloved Chrono.

I had up to ...let's say 100 / 150 straps only for my Pannies...

Without counting the straps / bracelet for the other watches, of other brands.

I have, indeed, a lot of brown and black straps, but I also have some green Khaki, Blue, Yellow and Blue, Burgundy and Blue, Red, Beige, Grey straps...

But it is a matter of fact that my fav are the Brown, Black, Beige, and Khaki.

Not too aventurous?

These are some of my favorites:

Speedmaster 3570.50 on Hirsch Leonardo. It's usually on bracelet





Omega Dynamic Chrono:
Saw an Omega ad with Rolf Schumacher wearing one on a yellow strap. Found a Hirsch with deployant that fit the bill perfectly



I switch it out with this:
