Horological Meandering

Hi all,

It has now been eight months that I am part of the Purists community.  I say so as I really feel that it is a community.  As this is my 400. post, (no particular achievement) I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the contributors who make this place as rich as it is and make a special tribute to the Moderators who do a tremendous job.  In the last eight months I have learned so much about watches, had some great discussions and even been able to meet with some Purists to share some good moments be it at the Paris GTG or in more unformal meetings in Paris and most recently in Marseille.

Being part of the Purists has also enabled me to combine two long term hobbies, watches and photography, and funny enough, before being a member of this forum I had never had the idea of taking pictures of watches!

So, as I am posting this message on the HoMe forum, as a special tribute to the Moderators, here is a wink to Andrew, playing with a vintage UG and a trilobyte fossil:

The PuristsPro team and its moderators do an awesome job in keeping the forums friendly, active, and most welcoming. And, let's not forget that they are also great human beings and wonderful to interact with.

Thank you for your kind sentiments, of which other mods are likely more deserving than me, but they are appreciated all the same.  Truly though, it is all the community members together which breathe life and joy into this place.  It's an honor to be a moderator, but the best part of the whole gig is interacting with everyone on the site.  I think Andrew will get a kick out of your post when he sees the fossils.  He loves stuff like that! 

I love your UG Polerouter Sub.  It's one of my most desired vintage pieces along with an IWC 812 and JLC Polaris.

Thanks for your kind comments and for thinking of me with this image, Matt. Pefectly matched patina, and we're lucky it doesn't take millions of years to develop. But I better not take the fossil / dinosaur and watch analogy too far. LOL

As others have said, PuristS is only as strong as the people who participate, and it's been great to have you as part of the family. And of course thanks for the great photographs.

I am sure you are exactly right on the fossil.  Yes I brought it from South Morrocco for one of my sons who is into it!  Glad you enjoyed the analogy!  Thanks and keep goimg on the great threads!  Matt

a new mobile phone has brought out the photobug in me, and i have ben photographing my watches mostly with food items. very amatuerish efforts.

I thoroughly enjoy visiting and taking part on the various forums, everybody is so friendly and quick to help you out.

And of course the moderators go a very long way to make it work like that.

When I log onto the computer, invariably it is this place that I come to first.

Your pictures are amazing!  I love the complementary textures of the fossil and treatment on the hour markers. Very cool!  

I am glad you enjoy the pictures, it is a great pleasure for me to take them and then to share on the forum.  This is an inspiring place and such compliments keep my creative thoughts going!...more to come for sure...Matt
