Horological Meandering

Part 2 of Taking my Kids for a Walk.  Forgive my close up quality, I dont have a macro lens and these is taken with a S90.

Here are 2 very special watches.  I had read about Joune on line many years ago and while I was working in Tokyo for a short time, I decided to visit the Boutique in Omotesando.  What a store that was and really nice staff.  The lady who sold me both is not there anymore but was very helpful in allowing me to get to know both.

My first was the Chronometre Souverain.  Age now, 5 1/2 years old
Why I love it:  It is the 40mm in RG with a gorgeous stunning RG movement.  I actually went to check out the one in Platinum since I have more preference for white metal in general.  However I fell in love with the RG version once I turned the watch round.  It was mesmerising the watch the back was entirely RG!  Stunning.
What bugs me now:  It is not really a flaw and nor can I say i dislike this feature, but it is the fact that it is 40mm.  I think if I do this again, I will go with the 38mm.  I feel now that the slightly thinner bezel suits the dial side more.  However, when I saw it I really liked the wider bezel from the back.  There was more gold  









































Second came the Resonance in PT.  Age 4 1/2 years old
I was then smittened by the Resonance.  What can I do, I had to own what I believe is the defining watch in the Journe collection.   I have said all along that this is amongst one of 3 watches in my small family that I would not want to part with.

I love it in the blue strap that I swapped on.  Makes it both casual and dressy in my eyes.  Stunning dial work, really interesting and unique and has Joune written all over the design.  The movement is one that I can watch for hours.  It is unlike anything else I own in that respect.  I can wear this movement side up if the lugs allowed it!
What I dont like:  I still do not like the winding.  I can put up with it.  It takes me 1 min 38 secs to fully wind from standstill.  I worry I might break it one day whilst winding. 
Otherwise there is nothing to dislike. 























This last shot is one of my favourite shots I have taken.  It reminds me of some of the MB&F shots that I have seen, although I did this by accident!

As I also used to work in Tokyo, and got my very 1st and till now only Journe from the very same boutique.

to make the CS in 39mm with a smaller crown as he did on the Chronometre Bleu - both of these modifications make that watch even better. Great post, love your pieces and agree wholeheartedly with your assessment!

There are so many great Journes around, its hard to know what to get

The CS remains my favorite Journe of all time!  It's perfection!.  I think I prefer the 40mm, so yours is just right IMO!  Thanks for sharing more of your collection.

Love that Resonance.

They RG CS is lovely. I can appreciate the feeling that 40mm is too big. I wore mine for years but eventually replaced with a 38mm version. Your Resonance is equally beautiful. Which hand do you typically wind with? I'm a righty but with a Resonance find it easier to wind with my left hand be because of the angle. Also try taking a 30 second break after 20 winds of the crown, then continue. I find when I go slower it's more enjoyable and my hand doesn't tire as quickly. Thanks again for sharing two beauties!!!
