a PW, the Celsius is a phone and when the technology is obsolete or the phone stops working... well the 200k tourbillon becomes completely useless.
To tell you the truth the Celsius was probably one of the stupidest products I had seen in years!
to see mechanical watchmaking try to embrace the technology that will likely push wristwatches out of everyday life for most people. I like the DeBethune as a pocket watch though.

This idea doesn’t appeal to me, but clearly high-end phones have found some traction in the market place. If a phone with a tourbillon or other mechanical contraption can encourage the ‘iPhone generation’ to investigate traditional horology, then that can’t be a bad thing.
By the way, how is the DeBethune watch secured in place? And how easy is it to remove to wind or use as a traditional pocket watch. What is the power reserve?
Andrew
I never needed one until the company told me to have one. I would not buy one in Japan when I came here, but since the number of the public phones had dramatically decreased, I was forced to get one. So, last year I bought a cell phone for the first time.

Vertu? As a status symbol?
cheers

reality is how many times we find ourselves using the phone for telling time, instead of the watch? now you got a big wach right at the back of the phone....the marriage of digital and analogue...i find it very exciting!!
the Celsius project, i like it too, but it is WAY too expensive to make ANY sense whatsoever. this is definately a product for the rich elite.
there are other watch manufactures that are into phones as well. UN and TAG for example. i find the TAG really gimmicky, but its the "cheapest" of the haute phonology gang. the UN i like alot. the solid gold versions is really quite heavy. what i really want is a mobile phone with a rotor that winds and powers up the phone, supplementing the battery life.
haute phonology is here to stay...whether as a fashion item, or luxury goods, or a marriage between horology and phonology. all the Vertu sceptics have gone into hiding. i am a big proponent of luxury phones, in a world full of iphones and Blackberries.
