Advice for a young collector?

Hello Purists!

I'm quite new to this forum and only joined about a little over a month ago and have been more of a lurker until now. I'm a young collector at 19, but I have had a love affair with horology ever since I was a young teenager. I have a pretty decent collection in my opinion, consisting of a Rolex 50th anniv Submariner, an IWC Big Pilot 5004, a PAM 111, a Cartier Pasha, a Girard Perraguax World Timer in Titanium, an AP Black Themes and a Franck Muller Casablanca. All of my watches seem to hover more or less in a similar price range as each other, and for my 20th birthday which is coming up in a couple of months, I wanted to mark the occasion by dropping a little more serious cash on a timepiece. After almost 3 months of searching, calculating and painstakingly saving, I have narrowed the list down to 3 potential candidates. They are:

1. A. Lange & Sohne TimeZone 
2. Richard Mille RM010 
3. Vacheron Constantin 1921 American

I love all three watches equally, however unfortunately I can't afford to have all of them... yet! So perhaps you guys could help me out on this decision? The Lange is such a stunning watch and the finishing of the movement is sublime, but am I ready to wear what is essentially a dress watch at my age? I do love my suits and favor preppier sartorial choices, but I am still as young as I am. The RM is truly awesome! But my only worry is that it is only an entry level RM and may suffer the same fate as the RM005 and be replaced soon. The concept of the VC I think is the coolest of all three, but locating one is really quite a task as I have found out that they are quite rare... 


Your thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

The TimeZone is too much watch and the RM is too obviously high-tech. 
I think the traditional style but the wacky diagonality (why not coin a phrase?) 
of the VC will stun anyone who sees you wearing it.

Rarity should not be an issue - you've got time on your side compared to us oldsters,
and there are always watches to be found if you know how to search.

Keep the AP, sell the other existing pieces and then buy the RM and the VC or the RM and the ALS (depending on the balance of funds available).

you will be happy with its quality, finishing and lange style,

I would say for such a young age, you need time to appreciate the VC especially 1921,

At 20, it is not bad at all!

I think a Vacheron 1921  would be the right addition in your collection.

But I am not you, and the watch has to please you.

Why not some other tracks?

U.N Sonata, Lange Richard Lange, JLC Duometre ( à Chronographe or Quantieme Lunaire ), Patek WT 5130 or 5110 ( but you already get one with the GP ), AP Royal Oak jumbo ( the Vintage or the new re edition Ref 15202, or the Jubilée ) are some other possibilities to consider...

My pick is Vacheron. Unique and it's a VC, can't go wrong with a VC.

As with everyone else, let me welcome you to PuristS, even if you have been lurking for a while (most of us did that). Wonderful to see you putting so much thought into your collection.

I understand that you want to extend yourself into new areas, but I think it is important to ask yourself when you would wear these pieces. This depends on your lifestyle and needs. 

I think the VC has the right combination of history, edginess, size and versatility and it would be my choice of the watches you list.

Let us know what direction you go.

Great options, by the way.  I have been thinking hard about the 1921 as well as the ALS Zeitzone for a long time, and would happily own either.  The only reasons that I don't are that the ratio of width to depth on the Lange makes it sit a little oddly on my wrist, and as for the 1921 I keep asking myself whether I really need another (gorgeous) three-hand dress watch given my existing selection.

I do love the Zeitzone, but then again I am (gasp) 56 years old, not 19.  Lots of time for you to get into those "fussier" sorts of pieces later -- I agree with Andrew and others who are supporting the slightly edgy look of the 1921.  You are young enough to carry it off (for the record, since I wear my Antiqua regularly, including for business, I think that I am still young enough as well!).

I just noticed that everyone suggests I either pursue the VC or the Lange, and not the RM! I woulda thought that because of my age, more people would have leant towards the piece; being the most contemporary designed in the bunch... guess I was wrong! smile Thanks for all the feedback by the way guys, it's eye opening to say the least...

Sounds like you already want the lange, but just afraid you couldn't pull it off cuz of ur... age?
I'm about 20, I never worry if a dress watch is unsuitable for my age. Just go for it.

1 thing I learnt is everyone subconciously picks smtg that is suitable for them.. It reflects their character in some ways.
