You can tell by the way someone caresses an object how much they love it.

No significant reason to post this image other than I love the passion it encapsulates: a watch on each wrist and another being lovingly held.

Hey Andrew, how are you? Nice pic, it really captures the passion of this guy. Is that you? I would also like to say that you are doing a great job with starting thread topics that are interesting for people to participate. I have not participated much, but I am reading everything and learning as much as I can. Thanks

Hi Sam,

I should have titled this thread "Hands of a Purist". It is my photograph, but taken of the hands of a good PuristS friend at an evening gathering over food and watches. Another great friendship made through this site.

And I appreciate your kind words more than you know. Our aim is to make PuristS a unique place to share our knowledge, passion and life. There are plenty of great horology sites and sources of information on the web and in print, but we hope that PuristS is just that little extra special...

... and it is made that way by the contribution of Purists such as yourself. There is no need for people to write a tome on moments of inertia for posts to be relevant and interesting. We all feed off the questions, threads and discussions that are taking place. I would encourage everyone to contribute.

Yes, they express Passion, but more they express Love.

Love for the object of his passion, and also express the understanding of this person about what it is behind an object like a watch: technique, history, legend, knowledge, skills, artistry, workmanship.

It´s so interesting to note how our physical behaviour can show our inner sentiments. The way we handle an object, our corporal attitude, tell a lot to the observer.
Of course fascial gesture can give us more information, but these hands tell a lot about this Purists, no needing to see his face, and his expression.

You got a Great Photograph!
It  remembers me  the old saying: "an image is better than a thousand words". You surely got the Spirit of a Purists here better than with a thousand words!

You are a talented photographer and it is sometimes difficult to choose one among many of your beautiful photos.

But, with this specific photo, I am really impressed! you managed to capture a subtile combination of strengh and delicacy. It is all about both sharing passion and focusing inward.

That is a lovely photo! The delicacy of holding the watch shows how much the person appreciates the time piece in his hand!

Another way of seeing passion is in the eyes and facial expression of a conversation... I see that when watching/listening to Max talk about his Machines.

I think we all know how this  gentleman feels.

I can tell when someone holds a watch.. or as you put it caresses it.  

If Passion for watches had to be described in one picture, better than in words by the way, this photo is the most efficient one.

Wonderful photo, Andrew!

No wonder this guy is holding the watch in his hands like it's a new born.

For the first time in his life he sees and holds the JLC Memovox Parking with French case – twisted lugs much like late Speedmasters.

 

His own Memo Parking’s have the normal straight lugs (Swiss case) so this one is more refined and delicate.

 

So exited that his fingertips’ are moist and the heart rate has gone up a notch.
