Now..I like Rolex.
In fact, I like them MORE today than before.
The Opus 3...it's a legend that I am a part of.
AND...besides Vianney, Max...I am probably responsible for 10% of its fame and true importance in horological art.
I will and am blunt about that...the posts, over 10, that are on this site, were the ONLY ones made in 2003, before the wrold even began the long 7 years wait.
I get mine next month.
BUT meanwhile, before I take home Opus 3....I think the most rare, 18 pieces of solid gold MB&F4 or ANY MB&F 4 is probably THE singular most distinctive watch that defines the times we live in.
A crippled recession that a watch this cool and mighty in design, could only be made in 18 pieces.
That inspite of deep poverty, art is alive.
That many brands are suffering, MB&F , being small, with a small budget, are going from strenght to strenght, selling expensive but valuable and relevant icons of art, and not bangles to show off wealth.
ENJOY:

Well...I will try never to trash or harm them.
BUT...I go ballistic.
They did the HARD WORK and they made these things.
I simply bought them for my parents...who were in the second world war, experienced poverty, and had VERY little.
Today, in their eighties...I wish them love and a good life.
My parents will use and wear those cars and watches.
And I feel good that I could give them a better life...
I wish that we all had that same chance.

Being in their 80s, chinese here in Singapore are not all that adventurous.
There are many.
But those bought their own porsches. My parents prefer Toyotas...sigh.
that to walk the edge is to have lower sales. These watches will never be mass appeal...I wish that like the Opus 5, they would, because I think MB&F are doing the world a good thing.
Incidently, the Devon, with its radical look, is more accepted..but it could also be the age groups involved in the pricing of these both rather expensive products.
I do feel bad about posting pictures of expensive things, especially during these hard times.
But, often...if I do not..then many more people will never get a chance to see them in their natural raw state...ie not advertisement pics.
But also, because I am NOT an unusually wealthy person..but quite a "normal" guy with a working job..I hope to inspire people to own or enjoy the things in life that people make or spend energy in making.
Especially in design.
Rolex has always been one of my no brainer buys, easy to maintain, except for the tridor incident.
Otherwise, I like the president and datejust bext.
I find the Deepsea hard to accept aesthetically, because of the curved glass...I always have this mental impression that a Rolex has to have a flat crystal.
