Horological Meandering

This Seiko SUS 4S15 has recently got a lot of my wrist time, particularly when I got the new Nato straps for the hot weather here. It was quite interesting to find out this watch was conceived and manufactured in 95/96 with the attempt to lure the 7X Youth in Japan, whom was so obsessed with Quartz watches, back into the mechanical watch franchise again. I am not sure if that mission was achieved back then but pretty certain that, after acquiring this tiny pretty, I am not going to buy a Quartz watch again!  This message has been edited by AndrewD on 2013-10-18 04:39:47

There was a time when all wrist watches were tiny - Patek was like that until most recently.  The trend comes and goes.  And as a small wrister, I surely hope that 36mm be the standard again (and also because I have several nice vintages).

Be patient!  Your day will come (for simple watch anyway) !

I really enjoy Seikos.  I have four.    I also recently bought a watch to wear with my suits that is 36mm.  At first, it looked a little small; now, 42mm seems very large.  For reference, my wrist is 17.1 cm./ 6.75 in.  Like most watch matters, it's all about taste and preference.  That said, watches overhanging the sides of wrists seem a tad silly, except for special watch nerd festivities.

It's 35mm excl. the crown.

it doesnt matter if small watches dont come back into fashion as long as you like wearing it. i regularly wear 32-34mm vintage pieces and a 49.2mm Omega without either of them feeling wrong.

Amusing as someone born in the 70s, I was probably wearing a seiko5 in the late 90s

The trend for big watches will probably have it's followers even in time to come, but it's evident from the new releases recently, that smaller sized watches, i.e. 40mm and below is making a comeback, and I can only hope it picks up steam. I would like to be able to have a better selection of casual watches that are more reasonably sized for smaller wrists.

people whose optimal size is 35mm to 38 mm. So keep your 36 mm watches. They look great.
