Jaquet Droz Charming Bird, Automata Lady 8 up close and in action

So, let's get closer to the main novelties - Jaquet Droz Charming Bird and Automata Lady 8 Flower.
Charming Bird
47mm may be a bit big, but the automata and "chirping" mechanism is very nice, together with the dome or sphere crystal.
Top crown works for the watch section, winding (although the movement is automatic movement) and time adjusting.
Another crown on 2 o'clock is for the automata/ chirping. Energy is generated by manual winding. Full winding gives about 45 seconds of chirping. The pusher on the top is the switch for the chirping to start.
Look at the bird's sphere.
These slits are the exits of the sound (thus, no waterproof)
Looks like the bird is operating a spaceship....
On the back is a bit boring, but with the bird engraved.
This is how it should look.
Now are you ready for the video?
Let's hear it again:
Available in WG and RG, 28 pieces each. Still a few are available!
Here are more hands-on novelties review taken a few days later at the boutique.
Astrale Grande Heure GMT, on a very rare stone dial (Gold Pietersit) - piece unique..... And watch dials are MOP.....
Love the blued hands....
Grande Heure Minute Quantieme 39mm and 43mm
Now, this is very un-Jaquet Droz. But looks very fresh and love the pattern on the dial and the date window. Red tip of the second hand is a good accent, too.
White dial and blue hands are hard-to-resist combo for me....
SW Chrono
45mm
Thick!
Nice looking back side.
Blue dial looks nice.
The Eclipse Aventurine - 39mm
Good for ladies, but may be a bit too big for ladies?
176 diamonds.
The Eclipse Silver - 43mm
Grande Seconde Deadbeat - this is surprising, from Jaquet Droz.
Enamel dial - they are very good at it.
On the right from the balance wheel (behind the bridge, but have a few windows) is the control gear for the "deadbeat" or dead second or jumping second.
Let's see it in the video:
And from the back:
Now see how the date hand comes back to 1. To my eyes, it seems to have gone the short way (that's impossible because it would have to pass the second hand dial center).
Sunstone Grande Seconde. MOP dials.
Sunstone Lady 8
Petite Heure Minute Butterfly Journey. LE of 8. And believe or not, there are 8 patterns, depending on the position of the butterfly. So, in total, 64 pieces will be made.
I like their enamel painting and the 3D object on the dial....
Very, very well made.....
On the back, rotor, butterfly is engraved.
Petite Heure Minute Relief Carps…oh, my....
The roter also has enamel carp!
See this 3D engraved Lotus flower? Simply amazing.....
The Lotus, Carps swiming in the pond..... Very Japanese.... Enamel dial is very, very nice.....
New pattern Paillonnee. Grande Seconde 43mm
Soon, they MAY start taking orders for the Paillonnee pattern - you could order the dog-shape Paillonnee, for example
Thank you for reading. Kudos to Jaquet Droz, and thank you, Jaquet Droz Japan and Swatch Group (Japan).

Excellent report Ken! Thanks for bringing these beauties to us. Sunstone, grand feu enamel and Lapis Lazuli, etc dials. I don't know another brand which does as many variants of these amazing dials as JD!
Thank you very much KIH for all the insights and bringing the JD specialities much closer to people like me.
Besides all the typical JD haute horlogerie work, I was really surprised to learn about about the SW Chrono with the Geneva stripe dial in blue. Together with an interesting movement, it was one of the common watch types in the JD product range that made me look closer.
