Richard Mille

Hi guys,

First of all you have some wonderful RM here !!!!!!!!

I have a RM010 RG but I am hesitating to swap it for a RM011 RG (+$).
I am hesitating because I feel that the RM010 is a keeper ... (one of the first "simple RM")
On the other hand I like the chrono RM011.

I know they are totally different but can't own both for the moment ....

What can you advice me ?

I've owned 3 RM10s in all metals , I started with RG version then I drastically upgraded to the RM004 (THE RM chrono to have) but unfortunately I had to let go of it later and instead got a WG version which I ended up changing for the final one my keeper the Ti version which I had done an ALL grey finish on

so im very very biased towards the RM10

what really turns me off about the 11 is its thickness mainly

plus its a modular chronograph which I have no regard to so I stay away from the 11 as much as I can never liked them

now there are other basic models you can have (RM35-01 top on my list, RM55 black second) or if you really want a chrono get the 004 with a bit of luck you would find within the same price range of the 11

Like what Riddler said above, the RM011 is much thicker and larger on the wrist than the RM010. So if you don't mind the extra thickness (and it really is thick coming from an ex-RM011 owner), then by all means I would get the RM011.

If you haven't tried one on the wrist yet, I would definitely do so before buying one.

I realise that when people come to our fora  (Welcome, by the way), they really need advice rather than the psychoanalyst throwback of "What do YOU really want?"

So, I opine unequivocally:  KEEP the RM010.

I followed this thread from its beginning and was uncertain about giving a feedback...but in the course of this thread I wanted to say I switched from an RM005 (2x) to the RM011 and I was in the same position as the threadstarter - all Richard Mille watches are design icons and desirable watches.
Not everybody could afford one, not everybody could afford several, so if you save your money for an grail watch...you have to make a tough choice.
For me, I swapped all my watches for getting a Richard Mille 011 (because I like chronos) and I am not disappointed having done this decision. & I still love the RM005 and my other former watches (Audemars Piguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin..), but " I put all my eggs in one basket "
For sure, the case is thicker than others , but believe me, due to its curved shape it does not annoy you...other watches with that size (bigger 44mm-50mm) would attract attention much much more..RM watches fit the wrist so comfortable - that´s the trick I like so much.
You wil not make a mistake in the case you swap from a RM10 to RM11 - that´s the good thing...you will love your RM010 furthermore...the same to me, but you can´t have everything in life...but be sure..you make no mistake (...although I am not a doctor ).

I will think about it ..... As you say it is some $$$ .. but the RM are so damn beautiful.

My 2 cents :
 I own few watches ( Omega, Rolex, AP and RM). The AP community is great (thumbs up) but it is wonderful how Mr Richard Mille managed successfully to make a great community with a NEW brand (new design etc.) Contrarily to AP or Patek which are based on heritage ... even if sometimes they "break the rules" ;-)as the AP motto says.
So I am sad that some beautiful brands as URWERK for example did not reach to have a large fans community.
Can you tell me why ?

I love your question, I think it would be interesting to start as its own thread.

I would say that Uhrwek is just too limited in its design
range.... So they're not si versatile and appealing to such a broad audience
as RMs are, also different product placement and marketing campaigns...
RM goes to ultra affluent sports (GP, yachts, etc) while Uhrwek is more a
techno junkie group who's into steampunk things...

To cut a long story short - not everybody can afford a Richard Mille watch and if you decide on one..could happen, you not could buy another one..Who'd have thought it?
I am an absolute fan of chronographs and therefore I saved my money to buy a RM 011...of course, it´s bigger than other watches or other RM´s, but be honest ..if you compare to others today...no longer extremely bigger and due to its curved tonneau-shaped case..wonderful to wear...so it´s true, the RM035 and the RM055 and in fact every Richard Mille watch is admirable, but please stop to talk down or bash the RM 011 or guess people wearing a RM 011 always want to show-off to its friends...this does not justice to them...for me it´s a general statement and I still love my entry watch into RM´s world.

& yes - I know the differences and I know even the price differences, especially RM-related, dear Purist.
Please do not mistake my review as criticism - I only wanted to suggest, that someone who wears a RM 011 not automatically wants to show-off...
Let us make up & enjoy RM´s wonderful world...
