A question about the E159 and the 2982B
Greetings everyone,
What is the difference between the 2982B and the E159? To my eye they look very similar and in most cases I see a cal 478 movement. Is it case size? I’ve read just about every thread on the SHOM and military issues 2982s and can’t pin it down.
Another quick question, a 35xxxxx serial would date from around 1943?

The problem is that there is almost nothing posted on the net about the SHOM 159 and the 2982B.

The SHOM houses the Cal 478. And it seems it is the 479 ( also housed in the WWW JLC British military watch ) for the 2982B. According to the manufacture, the Cal 478 was in production from 1945 to 1965.
I tried to see if the case back could give us an information, but it seems they are similar. Not E for the 159, as it is not screwed in, but snap back case. Same for the 2982B, by the way.

Now the Front: I wonder if the lugs are not slightly different, a side shot would help of the 2982B

The 478 has a central seconds, the 479 has a small seconds.

This is what I was looking for, thanks! The movement with the 35xxxxx serial is a p478 so the watch must be a 159, snap in case back.
Other than print books, are there any online references for JLC serial numbers ?
