Discussion: Newly announced Polaris vs Discontinued Master Compressor
The new Polaris is an interesting sports line. At first glance, I found it very sexy; however, after a while and looking at it in person, I slowly thought it was a bit bland. It’s my personal opinion only. The new Polaris does contain a few changes that I welcome, such as a thinner bezel. The design also appears to be more versatile than the Master Compressor line.
I start to compare it to the discontinued Master Compressor line. I start to think it had a more distinct design that was unmistakeable JLC with an ingenious design in crown design. I was sad when the model line was discontinued.

I agree.
At first I really wanted one of the new Polaris watches but I looked into it more. 38/42 hour power reserves and movements that seem smaller than the case. The bracelets use push pins which is a huge turn off for me. Water resistance is not on par with other divers in my opinion as well. The master compressors were amazing. I personally loved the crown and wish they kept the line going!

The new Polaris is slightly bigger, with its 42 mm. Not sure it is thicker.
You have a point on the movement. It is small for that case. A solid case back would have been a more interesting choice, I think.
Now, the case of the Master Compressor Geographique starts to look a bit outdated. And the dial of the Polaris Geographique WT is spectacular, in its finishings.
And the Polaris had the advantage of being a world time, rather than a Géographique...
Now, the Master Compressor Geographique has its charm... That's indisputable.

I'm afraid was a never a fan of the compressor range, not that they were not excellent watches, I prefer this new range for my tastes from an aesthetic point of view. [nt]

Agree 100%!!! The Compressors were amazing and ingenious..
while the Polaris is "nice," but not ground breaking. JLC's Extreme series - with shock absorber cases -was one of the coolest creations in all of Haute Horlogeri's sport series, and I, personally, thought it smoked the ROO series.
How I wish JLC would have "refined" it a bit, not discontinued it.
