Jaeger-LeCoultre

The hammer is moving very quickly, that's impressive. As for the power reserve yes, a longer one would be better and welcome. Thanks, H. [nt]

Nico, you mention that the alarm chimes lower.

Do you mean the volume is lower (compared to the previous edition), or the "note" is lowered, but same volume?

No, the volume is a tad lower, but the note is richer. [nt]

The E875 is the most muted, understandable because of the age. The boutique edition sounds much louder. The Timer is richer. I still prefer the boutique edition because of the sound, but the new case is much nicer. Tough decision

Try to have a comparison in the real life. It is really hard to have a precise idea from a sound file. [nt]

Superb review, Nico. Way more enjoyable than read the new release of (cough) Rolex today.

I like the blue hue, the case proportion, etc. But I still not fan of the Silvered timer subdial, which detract the hands for easy reading. And make the dial too busy.

Its a pity you did not post a wrist shot of the regular edition in different lighting....would love to see the legibility rate.

One question : what is the lug width? I really hope its 20 mm, not some odd 19 or 21 mm.

In the future, I wish JLC could upgrade the movement with simple feature : the ability to stop (on/off) the alarm at any time, just like Tudor advisor, seiko bell matic, and omega memomatic. You know, sometimes we want to stop the alarm while its ringing, if we don't want to annoy anybody around us....

Thanks for spending effort to write the review.

Thanks for your comments, my friend. You can stop the alarm by puling the upper crown, if you want. As for the distance between the lugs, it is 20 mm. [nt]

Thanks, Nico. Glad to know it's 20 mm lug width. As for pulling out the crown to stop the alarm, must be done with fingernail I think. [nt]

Fantastic, detailed, insightful review! Thank you. I am a fortunate owner of this limited edition. Mine unfortunately needed to be returned to JLC immediately as the hour hand did not align with the hour marker precisely. The alarm also rang approx 15 min earlier than its setting. Unfortunate (and uncharacteristic) quality control from JLC, but I’m sure it will be addressed and returned to me quickly. I’m a big fan of this new model. Thanks again for an outstanding review.

Too bad. I am sure they will do their best to solve that. Keep us posted, please. [nt]

and I have mixed feelings about this ... or maybe, to be honest, I am overemphasizing small things to justify I won't buy it as the price is too high in my opinion ;-)

Pros:
- the case: very modern and well proportioned. Feels great on my wrist and really like the reduced thickness.
- the movement, through the transparent back is delightful.
- the blue hue of the dial is very nice.
Cons:
- the silver center part (the timer function) is too present. I would have preferred a blue ring to match the rest of the dial. This, plus the date windows, gives me mixed feeling with the watch on the wrist (I did not notice that it was bothering me that much when I saw the pictures).
- the strap is probably not the best option for this watch. But since I love designing my own (sometimes weird) bespoke straps, this is not much of a concern to me.

BTW, I've been told that there is only one left on the allocation for France (true info or sales pitch, I don't know). So if you are interested, run ! (and remember you owe me one as I did you a favor not taking it)
