Four years since I bought the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar - also known as Doctor Strange for its appearance in the marvel movie.
To celebrate here are some pictures of today itself of this amazing watch:
I have to admit that I always love to have the date in a watch. The perpetual calendar takes this to a new level giving you the accurate day, day of the week, month and year! So a very functional complication if you -- like me -- enjoy seeing this in your mechanical watch
39MM is a perfect balance with one caveat: I started to wear progressive lenses only this year and I have to admit that before that it was difficult to read the day. So if you have a good eyesight (or wear progressive lenses) you will have no trouble with the size of the watch.
It is very thin and light (66 grams with strap and buckle) so a pleasure to wear
Price has gone up since I bought it but it is still great value for a perpetual calendar with in-house movement. All in all an amazing watch..look forward to wear it a lot more now that I can see the date well

You have a couple of watches, how do you keep this Perpetual calendar on date? Watch winder? or it's really easy to set the date so you don't care to set again and again?

I got a watch winder from the JLC boutique so I just use that (in some cases you might get it as a gift!). In alternative going ahead is very easy just you can't easily go back if you go ahead too many days 
so I suggest a winder. I have too many watches but this..is something special.

Is this some kind of family bands? Richemont, or any other reasons the looks are in the same design language?

umh may be ! but all the IWC I have
have certainly a larger and thicker DNA I don't think the movement are shared wither but then again there might be some similarities. A lot of perpetual calendar do look similar (e.g. Montblanc) perhaps the moon phase?

for me the bigger give away is the full year on the Botton left. I think that IWC used some JLC movements in the past. In this particular watch I think it is a perpetual calendar module over an automatic movement but I will leave it to the experts to say !
It’s an IWC movement
This is an IWC kurt klaus movement that JLC used. They updated it recently with their blue enamel series so expect it to go into regular production one day and replace your model , notably it moved the offputting off centre year window inside.
I think I prefer the old layout with Moonphase at the top, despite the year placement [nt]

This is a different implementation of the perpetual calendar. The positions are rotated around 180 degrees and the year shuffled over into the center in two bits.

The IWC movement for the perpetual is based on an ETA and bigger watchbase.com
the perpetual calendar module is a similar technology but is certainly not the same movement watchbase.com
I wasn't speaking of the "movement" when I first made my comment, I said "the complication"
whatever motivates the dates and moon is almost irrelevant, as long as it has enough oomph!
In this case we don't know what's beneath but as Nico says, yes, it's a Kurt Klaus perpetual complication (I am not saying a separate module) that has been integrated into multiple watches of all sizes (small med and large) from multiple brands.
Here is some clarification:
Dubois-Depraz is not a watch movement maker. A watch movement is the basic mechanism for storing and releasing power in order to indicate the time. It is comprised of a mainspring barrel, an escapement assembly, and some gears that move hands.
What Dubois-Depraz makes are modules that can sit on base movements (such as the ETA 2892 which is a very popular choice for a base movement) and adds additional functionality: Calendar, chronograph, etc.
Perhaps JLC, as a long-time customer of DuBois-Depraz, had them adapt the perpetual calendar for use on a JLC base -- but if so, how does it get to be so thin?

Not that it matters that much but there are some differences between the IWC and the JLC ones. I don't mind ETA movements either but I found it a bit weird how some brand charge so much for "just" an ETA movement with some modifications but of course this is too of topic.
