But there is another one which is just sublime, the Mark 11, here issued for the Royal Australian Navy.
The dial and case are really superb.

The big arrow is a very nice detail, indeed. Was it legal for soldiers to sell their watches back in the 60s? Or to put it differently: Is there any way this watch came on the market legally? Amazing piece - so happy to see it now in the hands of people
who really appreciate it!

A simple, charming, classic -- and reminder that vintage has a certain appeal that new can't quite match.
Which reminds me of my first car, fully restored. This isn't mine but it's the same model, color, wheels, etc. My current car is 'better' but lacks something this one has, not unlike the Mark XI compared to newer watches.

I had the good fortune of acquiring James Dowling’s JLC awhile back. Shortly after, a good friend agreed to relinquish his IWC. Hence the pair were attained.

I tend to agree. It is a very good watch, which could be a " one piece collection ", indeed.
That'e the point of this watch. A much better decorated and finished movement than the Geophysic!
