For me, this certainly is the case for the Master Compressor Geographique.

How could I miss this one? It is original, as it is a diving watch AND a travel watch. Its design is daring, strong, still young ( this watch is 20 years old! ). And its compressor crowns are much missed, nowadays.
Maybe because I focused too much on the Master Compressor Alarm? Certainly!

I still wear mine for all the reasons you mentioned…travel, swimming and very durable. I think this was a time when JLC sports was arches were at its best.
That was a thrilling era for sure. Even if we have to remember that when the MC line was released, the welcome was lukewarm...

I agree that this one did not seem to get as much traction as I would have expected. I was drawn to the pops of red and white along with the grey sub dials. To some it may seem unbalanced, but I really like it. Plus, with the second time zone it makes for a great traveler. And it is a bit under the radar so I don't worry about it getting too much unwanted attention while traveling.
Agreed about the charming asymmetry. And the fact that it is under the radar is another good point.
