Hello Everyone,

Been looking at this one for a while but have a few questions. 
1)  Comfort.  I'm big boned (over 6 feet) but the watch with a new strap seems to perch on my wrist.  The bracelet version seems a better fit but is too flash for me.
2)  Utility.  I travel a lot.  200k miles per year.  This would be the travel watch.  How does it compare to WW.TC or JLCs own Geographic?
3)  Shape.  My box is full of round or pillow shaped watches (PAM183 & 184, GP F1-048, IWC Portuguese, etc) will this one survive?

Lots of subjective questions here but your inputs are most welcome.

I have a number of travel watches which I enjoy wearing. I have a Reverso GMT and a Reverso Duo, as well as a Dualmatic, a Hometime, a Blancpain Timezone, and a Rolex GMT II.

The Reverso GMT gets used a lot as it's functionally pretty good. It's a little thick for wearing with a suit, but for most other purposes can be worn very easily. I have mine on a matt black croc strap with contrasting gray stitching which works really well with the reverse side of the watch.

The Duo is one of the pre-harmonized versions which I think is one of the nicest looking watches anywhere. The only slight downfall is you need a pusher or pen tip to change the hour seting for the reverse dial. It's a great dress watch (it's thinner and smaller than the GMT) that can also be worn with jeans. I just wish they had made it with exactly the same dials in either wg or pt, but they fiddled with perfection...

I would not have either on a bracelet as they both seem classy watches and have no sporty pretentions at all. but each to his own.

They all (with the exception of the Rolex GMT) get worn frequently regardless of whether I'm travelling or not.

Thanks for your views.  The Duo has also been in the running but the GMT's complications keep winning me over.  Looks like its time to stare at them both in an AD.

and although it looks great on black croc, I actually prefer it on bracelet for a couple of reasons:
1. Comfort: Adjustable clasp - if you're traveling to different regions with different temperatures, you're bound to swell and shrink;
2. Longevity: bracelet will not wear out; and
3. Smell: straps do have a tendency to smell like a sneaker after a while, whereas bracelets can be washed off.
Regarding Geographic: I LOVE this watch, also, but the legibility of the GMT and the "coolness" of being able to turn it over still win out (for me) over the Geo. Plus, I love a hand-wound, especially one that is an 8-day movement.

Gratuitous wrist shot follows:

This will take a couple of tries, but after you "get it," it'll come naturally and you'll actually enjoy the release of pressure when you're swollen.

Open the 6 o'clock side of the clasp only. Take your thumb and grab the edge facing you and pull moderately hard until you feel the swivel release. Now close the clasp and you will have extended THIS side 4 mm. To put it back is just as easy: open the same side, take your thumb and pull until the swivel opens 1/2 way; then use tip of thumb to press clasp the rest of the way down into the "closed" position. Voila!

You can also do this on the 12 o'clock side, but it isn't quite as easy.

If you like the watch, and it appears that you do, go for it. I have one and really like it. I wore it earlier today as a matter of fact.


I had a regular Reverso Duo but didn't wear it much because it was a little small for my taste. I liked the watch but always wished it was a little larger. When I saw pictures of the Grande GMT I felt that it would be one that I would wear more often, and I do. Looking at the dimensions between the Classic and the Grande sizes I initially didn't think there was that much of a difference to switch but I got the opportunity to try a Grande on and the size difference was significant enough for me. The only thing I would change is, I would put some guilloche on the black dial, like the classic model. On the other hand, it may make that side look too busy because of all the other stuff going on.
A bracelet clearly makes it a flashier watch for me and I would say on bracelet I would consider it a dress watch. I wear mine on a brown croc strap and I think it goes nicely for dress as well as casual.
I find the watch comfortable but, as you have discovered, it is thick so it rides kind if high on the wrist. I'm OK with that.
As a travel watch, I would think it would be perfect because you can change the time on the second dial easily with the push buttons. Also with the two dials, it's like having two watches in one, even better for travel.
The shape issue is a personal preference. You must have already determined that a rectangular watch is OK or you wouldn't be looking at the Reverso GMT.

I have the boutique both silver face edition.It does not get much wear time especially when travelling as its troublesome to flip it over for home time etc.Looking a handphone time would be easier.For my travelling,uses the standard alarm/GMT watch of GP,B&M etc or cheap JR,Citizen Eco worldtime watches.Not too pricey all as want to be free of worries to whatever crime infested corners of the earth.
It wears ok,not comfortable like most round watches,leather strap is stiff,changed mine into a lizard one.
But I buy/like it as a representative watch of JLC and so many complications packed into a relatively small case.

Its pure class

I probably have a similar amount of travel (gold card with two different airline aliances). I bought the Grande GMT around Christmas and hardly wear any other watch since then. I will buy the bracelet next time I will be in Singapore.

The watch is pure class, beautiful, very practical when switching from one time zone to another (except for India) + the 8 days power reserve is simply cool. I wind my watch every Monday. It has become a habit.
