I have been considering buying my first JLC over last 6 months.  I finally made my mind up and  walked into my dealer 2 days ago and found out that the prices were increased 25-30% across the board.   (I live in Dubai where the local currency is pegged to dollar and Euro has been increasing etc etc…).  I was very disappointed and decided to postpone my purchase for another 6 months.  Then, surprisingly I saw that Master 8 days is available at  XXX.COM for 40% less than my dealer’s price.  I need some serious advice here:  Is it worth to take the risk and order it online?  Amazon is a very reputable site but still....

For this amount of money and espeically this type of watch, why are you cutting corners??  You just need one issue to arise where the proper warranty would cover servicing, in order to lose all your 'savings' (due to the lack of warranty since you purchased through a non-AD).  I have a Cartier Pasha whose movement went bad within the first two (2) weeks of ownership.  Cartier fixed the watch and it cost me nothing.  i did get a copy of the sales receipt though and the movement itself was over $2600 ---not including labor!

You have reason for concern when buying anything online from unknown sources.  One avenue to pursue might be the pre-owned market...you can buy absolutely mint watches for a considerable savings over brand new pieces.  The reasons people sell watches they've a=only worn a couple of times is as varied as the sellers, but I quite often read that someone has purchased a new watch only to realize they don't like it as much as they thought they would...or they have a new piece and suddenly a piece they've always wanted pops up and they have to sell what they just purchased in order to afford the one they've been waiting for...etc., etc.

To this end you might want to check the 'Collectors Market' portion of this website and do a search for Jaeger.  It's updated everyday I believe and the sellers are most often known watch guys with long lists of references.  Also check with some of the bigger retailers who also deal in pre-owned.  Give them the ref. number of the piece you need and let them find it for you pre-owned.  Happy hunting, you'll get the right piece at the right price. Be patient.
