A Quick view on the E 877 So Called " Snow Drop ".
Here is a strange watch, the E 877, so called " Snow Drop ".
Strange, because when you see it in pics, you're really wondering what can be the interest ( esthetically speaking ) of such a watch, presented with a big and weird case.
As always, the golden rule is to see it in the flesh before any final judgement.
This is what happened, when I met one of our Viking Fellow Purist wearing this Special Memovox, in Paris, recently.
The E 877 is obviously a strange watch, as the shape of its case is between round and ovale, and with these 2 crowns which seem like " anchored " in the case.
The dial is, in this black version, very appealing.
Time and Alarm indexes, a white ring to enhance the Alarm zone, and a very interesting design of the hands:
Skeleted hands, as some modern JLC pieces...
You will also notice these big and short indexes, contrasting with the indexes we are used to see most often on Memovoxes, and with the round ovale sweete look of the case, giving a viril look to the watch.
On the case back, all is written:
HF for High Frequency and Speed Beat: 28 800 Vibrations per hour.( Cal 916 )
5 ATM Water Resistant.
On the wrist, the first fears disappear... The watch is very comfortable, and even looks very nicely balanced!
From 1971 to 1975, JLC made 2 153 exemplaries of this reference. ( Infos to be credited to Zaf Basha, and the JLC Heritage Gallery ).

I have to say JLC made (and still makes) some serious cool watches; what i have seen of them this past year is really amazing ... not only the divers; but practically every watch they have makes me drooling ....

Seriously, on the Vintage topic, I miss around 7 other watches to end my collection of JLC watches.
About modern pieces, it will depend on what JLC will offer.
I fear it won't be the end. LOL

The variety of interesting JLC Vintage Watches is just amazing, indeed.
It reflects a deep value for the brand.
I will someday work on a topic to sum a nice selection of Vintage JLC watch, and the History of this " Grande Maison "...
But it takes a lot of time.
As for the Future, I'm quite confident that JLC will amaze us for some long years!

The case of this Memovox must be really sexy. This mixed round-oval case used in this watch is really well done, and I think that must be really impressive.
Like you say, this watch must be see in the flesh for getting all this beauty.
I like specially the hands of this watch, and I see that nothing made by JLC is made without a reason (seein the pic of your two modern JLC with this kind of hands). JLC knows how to make an Hommage to some models made (another example are the hands used in the Amvox models, like the Calypso hands used in some units of the Polaris). I like this kind of works.

One more piece...
But the Memovox with Black Dial is indeed a great thematic collection, with a lot of variety, hence, a true interest of the talent of this Manufacture.

And that means all.
I won't bet on the water resistance of this E 877...
I know that it is written 5 ATM on the case back, but I won't swim with.
Like you, I'm madly in love with this special shape, combined to the black dial.
Not sure that with the white dial I'd love it that much.
Now, I kjust have to find one, which won't be an easy story.

Actually, it is quite WR indeed
The E877 has a monobloc case (front loaded movement with split stems), so the 5ATM thing is not only theoretic, it should also work quite well in practice.
Not meaning that I intend to swim with mine, but I would be definitely more confident to try its waterproofness than with other classic memos...

And yes, I agree that I would be more ocnfident with this one than, with a E 855, for example.
