I am buying a watch for my wife as a brithday present, below are some of the pieces which I am considering:
a) JLC master compressor GMT or chron(steel)
b) Rolex Yacht Master lady size
c) GO senator lady
d) Others (please advise)
she will likes to wear it as a everyday watch and be understated., thus white metal is prefer able . she currently owned a JLC reverso duo (steel) VH classic and Longine classic piece.
and my budget is less than US$7K.
It all depends of everyday clothing type and sport activities.
The Rolex YM is very sport looking and with the platinum dial, the sparkling bezel and red second hand make it very attractive and similar as the man others sport model like GMT amd Explorer. I owned a GMT IIc and hope that I wife also would has one in her collection. (size is less than 30mm)
The JLC MC driving GMT lady with white dial and blue decoration and diamond on the bezel marker is really nice and warm. The 2 timezone make it a very useful application. however bacause of the diamond on the bezel, it looks a bit of ferminine and dressy. Do not know can it be wear during working in the office. ( she is an Engineer)
Both watches are consider sport watch, the price is US$700 different which is not a problem during the consideration. One importance consideration is would it be out of fashion one day ? Rolex YM had been around for 10 years and the JLC MC driving GMT lady launched in year 2007, can it be around the many years to come and still hot ?
My wife intended to give it to my daughters in times to come and hope that it will retain it value and lasting, what is your thought ?
Her wrist size is 140mm(5.5") and the YM is 28mm and JLC is 38mm, any problem ?
Would anyone post the picture of both the Rolex YM and JLC MC dirving GMT lady , thus I also can ask my daughters to advise as they are the ultimate owner.
Thanks for all the input so far.
the Oyster perpetual; no date; black dial; pink markers. I love that one. My wife doen't give a damn about watches so I won't be bothered buying her such a piece. Don't forget to check out the ladies Blancpain collection!
Best,
Starman
