since i have owned my first Reverso (Grande GMT) years ago and later my second Reverso (Grande Taille) a year ago, i have been very impressed by the elegance and classy of Reverso and wanted to hunt for an early version of Reverso. Of course my dream is to get vintage Reverso, but the good condition of such vintage Reverso is rarely come by and in fact hardly found. even you found one, you need to pay for quite high cost. however it didn't stop me to hunt one more Reverso for my collection.

luckily, when i saw this Reverso Or Deco model which caught my attention and was keen to own it at once, this watch especially has the Art Deco look with white gold applied indexes on black dial. the movement is manual winding calibre 846. i have put this Reverso on my wrist since i collected it from post office this afternoon, the performance does not let me down, i would say it is a very reliable and elegant daily wearer. because it is in white gold casing which looks like stainless steel, that does not give you show-off look feel when wearing it to office!

anyway, just took some quick pics for this new family member, i placed it with my GMT side by side, you can see this Or Deco seems like a little young boy hiding behind the big brother, however he is actually the senior brother in terms of its production year!!!

Nico, agree with you, this model is really magnificent one. mine has little special feature - i have compared mine with others, the JL logo and "Jeager LeCoultre" words are applied on near at the centre instead of those usual ones at the top of 12 o'clock position.

....vintage Reverso is really hard to come by. even some of them have appeared in the market, but the condition is hardly in good condition...

wish me to hunt for one one day.

You are right, this Or Deco is one of the nicest of the 'new vintage' reversos

 

But you are also right in pursuing your quest of a 'true vintage'. As you can see, there is a good linkage between the 2, and to each its own charms...

This comparative picture also points oiut the over dimensioned ( in height ) crown on the Or Deco.

I am glad you were 'inspired' by this watch I previously posted here.

The watch is unfornately not with me anymore. As I told before, this is one of the few watches I have sold, the primary (and actually only) reason was that it was just too 'mint' for me to dare wearing it, but also not vintage enough to be kept as a 'safe queen'.

I like to wear watches that are in good condition, but if they are really mint (speaking of vintage pieces), I would not like to be the one to put the first scratch on them after 50 years.

So, I have a few 'mint' watches that rarely see any wrist time, and some other 'less mint' that I can wear happily.

The Reverso Or Deco was in none of the categories (not scratched enough to be worn, nor vintage enough to be kept as a treasure), so it was wise for me to sell it, although I really love it (greatest dial along with the Art Deco) 

As you see, life is complicated

BTW, if you want to pursue in the reverso thema, this is not one, but 3 vintage reversos which you need to chase. 1st version (pre-LeCoultre movement, no second hands), 2nd version (small second at 6'), and 3rd version (central second, sort of similar to your Or Deco in the layout, and very rare to come by in running condition)

So, there is still some hunting to be done !

..."life is complicated" which also inspired me a lot and all these "hard" processes you mentioned force me to understand our weakness more!

one thing you said is very interesting to and stimulating me - if the watch is too "mint", we tend to keep it in a safe and not to wear it. however "mint" condition is one of the key factors during watch purchasing process!!!

by the way, thanks for the hints for vintage Reverso, it seems i have long to go!

I admit to not having even seen one in real life, unlike vintage Submariners or Speedmasters of the same age which seem to be available in much greater number. Thanks for taking the time to post the side by side pics. Now if you can slide the GT in between these two... Just a suggestion, of course, but would really love to see it one day when you have the time.

I wear this about 3 days out of the week, rest of the time its my  day/night, moonphase reverso.

The salmon dial enhances the beauty of this Or Deco.

yes, my memo and Reverso are growing fast, seems too fast... i need to control it a bit, but sometimes it is really hard to do so because such nice pieces keep passing by to my eyes
