I am thinking about jumping into the ATMOS world - but having some trouble choosing among my options.

I like the 1930's re-edition (limited release of 300 pieces?) but am having trouble finding one.

Also, please help with the enclosed photo of what (may be) my favorite ATMOS clock - but this one I am totally unable to find any information about it - anywhere!

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Those are two very nice choices of the Atmos.

 

I am not sure, but I think that JLC have not started to ship the 1930’s re-edition.

And also that you have to sign up for one in advance…

 

The attatched pic looks like an eriler version of Atmos Régulateur Transparente.

Hour on the small dial, 24h display, minutes on the big dial, moon phase and month display.

I'll do some more digging and see what turns up.  The available range of recent designs seems extensive.  And the values seem to jump quicky - I'm probably looking for something on the modest end here in earthquake-prone Tokyo.

I think Atmos and earthquake doesn’t really match…

 

One of my favourite is of course the re-edition of the 1930.

But I am to fund of my kidneys, to be able to put them up for sale…

 

 

But one I like that is more affordable is the Atmos Classic Rhodium plated.

Really like the classic look!

The simple, entry-level rhodium plated version of the Atmos...








This one has been sitting on my desk for a little over a year now. My preference is actually the normal production transparent version but I could not get myself to like the moonphase disc on that one with clear moon instead of gold or silver moon if I remember correctly.

Maikeru, I hope you find a model that suits your risky geography soon. These clocks are so fascinating in terms of the concept. At least the promo material got to me.

I went for the basic (if you can call it that..!!) time only transparent version...

 

I do like the moonphase version but I don't like the month dial on it - and the thought that I would only see the month dial go round about 30-40 times in my lifetime also put me off..!!

It is a stunning clock and something that gets used several times every day - i can sometimes just sit and see the pendulum rotate...very slowly...mesmorising..

Is the movement in brass or is it just the lighting? I had thought the Transparente was only in Rhodium plated.

brass and gold bits in there....similar to the side pics of Ruckdee's further up but different case and face, the bellows are also not covered up and you can see the difference in different temperatures but obviously you can't see it move.

The plates are rhodium plated but the wheels in brass. Thanks Andy. I magine you have to open the window on a very cold day to watch the bellows change. Beautiful Atmos, one thats on my long list....

When really warm the 5 concertina parts to the bellows nearly expand to the full width of the space...hope that makes sense..!! Which in turn pulls and relaxes the chain which winds the main spring which is the large brass/gold piece just behind the dial. Although you obviously can't see it actually move as it is far to slow...but there is a small cog with numbers on which I have assumed to be an indication of the months of power reserve in the spring.

Fascinating to watch..!!

PS - sorry I miss understood your note - yes open the house door to let cold air in to set the bellows off....sort of yes, in winter it is cold in the morning before the heating comes on so yes you can see a big difference during the day..!!

The right Atmos is certainly a very difficult call especially since the very most exquisite ones are typically special issues with correspondingly high prices. Between the two, budget pernitting it would be the 1930.

Nice pics. The black dial one looks especially unusual as it appears that the hour hand tip broke and now is a piece unique crescent!

It is indeed another slippery slope in the world of WISdom.
