At the end I am quite sure I came to the conclusion I would have the MC Memovox as my next piece.

Then I went to Switzerland for vacation with a little side detour for watches. In one of the shop ... ... guess what? they have one brand new!

I try it on and OMG! The watch did not speak to me like I imagine.

Do you all have similar experience? Is it common?

Quite a heart wrench for me, I am so sure that ... this would be it ... then ... BOOM! Back on surface, down like a falling rock. Now back to square one. Vintage maybe?

But the sound of the MC Memovox sound so ..... Arrgh!

I can't focus anymore. I need to go chill out a bit. Going to my chocolate MUT for some soothing.

And more than you can imagine, hence the advice which sounds like a broken record : Do never make a decision ( good or bad, by the way ) on a watch, without having seen it in the flesh.

Well, if you love the Alarm on a diving watch, you have other choices: Polaris or Navy SEALs Alarm.

If you want an alarm on a non diving watch, the Master Memo, released this year, is another good choice.

Take your time, recover from this deception, and you will see the light!

And luckily JLC offers a wide range of alarms if you seek that complication and from this brand.  The Compressors are not for everyone -- and maybe that is what didn't work for you? 

Anyway, I think this has happened to many of us.  We dream, and when we finally see the watch in the metal, sometimes it just does not inspire us anymore.  Of course, sometimes the opposite happens, which is always a nice surprise. 

I would take a look at the Tribute to Polaris or the AMVOX1, my two favorite JLC alarms. 

Recharge your batteries and begin anew.

I am charting in to dangerous water now. As I found out I really don't have any non-sport type black dial watch. The MMI looks tempting but the Polaris .... the 65' .... in Steel! Dilemma Dilemma.

What was it that made you think this would be the one?

 

What was it that put you off?

 

If we know this, maybe some of us may point you in the right direction…

 

When it comes to alarm watches JLC have a lot to offer, both modern and vintage.

when I put it on. I hold the watch in my hand and something is not right. I love the MC line, The built, the compression key and the dial. Then as I wear the watch. The dial seem a little too busy and thickness is hard to ignore.

I made up my mind on the MCM because I thought the watch looks less macho-sport type then the Polaris and NSA plus with is the only alarm JLC has without a full circle dics to set the alarm other than the Master Grande Reveil. I can wear it casual or dress up a little. I am sad because I really was dreaming about this watch for few years.

I was trying on the one with metal bracelet, maybe if it on rubber or leather straps will be different?

Another thing might help is see some wristshot. Calling all Master Compressor Memovox owner. Help this little guy so that he didn't miss out. Show your glory piece.

If it’s a modern JLC sports watch with alarm you are after then the thickness will be a problem.

 

The MCM and AM I are about the same thickness. The Pola and NSA are even thicker.

 

And I think that goes for almost every brands sports watches today.

 

None of them are able to “feel” like the MUT…

 

But I think if you try on some different sports watches you will get used to the idée of a thicker watch.

 

If you go to the dressier watches, the new Master Memovox or the MMI are thinner, but still…

 

If you back up some more and go for discontinued watches the Master Reveil and the Master Memovox manual are smaller.

About the alarm disk, yes some of us here don’t like the semicircle.

 

Personally I love it!

 

But that’s the good part about JLC, it’s like a candy store – one for each flavour.

 

Next watches you try on, maybe do it with strap instead of bracelet?

 

The bracelet adds some extra weight and enhances the “big and clumsy” feeling, IMO.

PS. The semicircle is found on the EWA as well.

Looking at your wristshot really does made my wonder I should give it a second try.

I am considering a few options. I saw TTP 65 in Platinum once in JLC Boutique. To my surprise when I put it on it doesn't feel all that big. I can really feel the weight thought. I didn't take up the offer as I getting an alarm piece in platinum was not my initial plan. (Outdoor, Sports, Swimming and etc ... hardly suitable for any precious metal I presume)

That being said I guess I would go give the MCM a second try but this time in rubber or leather straps.

If that didn't work out, maybe I'll hunt for a steel TTP 65. Are they hard to come by? I think I just seen one somewhere. What price should I expect as I know they are limited edition? I got no clue how they are on the market. I thought my MUT chocolate might be rare but I seen them all over Asia's and Switzerland's watch shop. Guess they are either not popular or late arrival to the store.

Appreciate your effort to help this little lost lamb in the field of alarm watch jungle.

PS: Your wrist makes the MCM looks like a midsize sport watch. I am envy. Size does matter in this instance.

The TTP both 65 and 68 are great watches!

 

But, as a beater – do have in mind that they have plexi dooms and not crystals…
