I generally think the JLC straps (and buckles/deployments) don't match the quality of their watches ( I have 4 JLCs, statistically speaking, too small of a sample to make a conclusion perhaps, but anyway this is how I feel.) I love them all and am a big fan of the alarm watches.
The worst is the tropical strap on my 68 Polaris where the thread started coming off after a very short usage time.. Now, I need a new strap. The AD says min 3 months of lead time for the original strap and I am not sure I want the OEM tropical strap because of my concerns about its quality.
I bought the rubber strap for the Master Compressor series, which does not work with this model.
Is there any strap alternatives within the JLC line or should I look for elsewhere for custom straps. (any tips via PM will be really appreciated)
Cheers,
Aziz
The straps of TTP are quite rubbish.
I am dreaming about the original style bracelet but because it is not very likely that JLC would produce such, I am wearing my Polarises with croco straps and folding clasps. The Pt. clasp I will receive next month.
When I will have time to go to the Red Sea to take some underwater photos of all three TTPs, I will wear nylon staps. Again, a bracelet would be nice for that.
Best, Kari
We have only seen a few rare photos of the TTP in its natural element -- and at least one TTP in a glass of beer -- but I would love to see more. Next time you are in the Red Sea...

I will take all three under the surface. But how to see from the pictures the difference between xx/65 and xx/165?
Best, Kari
sure!
The clasp was ordered from a JLC Boutique and the delivery time was many months. The price is quite exacrly 50% of Lange's clasps.
Many platinum JLC have a folding clasp so I don't understand why you were told that those do not excist. You can check this from JLC's home pages. I just guess that JLC does not have any pt clasps in the storage and it takes quite some time to order one.

In the JLC Boutique the platin one cost just a little bit less!
To be honest I think that many ADs fool us by giving a small rebate on the watches and after that try to rip us off. In the Boutiques the prices are always "right" but the service is really good.

Would love to find a nicer strap for my 68 too, but it's not easy. Maybe in my next visit to Paris I'll spend a couple of hours (or more) at ABP
Keep us updated, please.
Good luck!

I put the EWC's croc strap (mine is brown) on the Pola for a while. It looked good, but i am still thinking I will switch toa nato strap.

Sorry the pics are not better, but hopefully it will give you an idea. The brown croc is pretty dark, and I like the combination of black, gray and brown -- but not for everyone, I suppose.

I agree that the Pola '65 is an interesting watch -- somehow dressy and yet it is a tool watch by nature.
I think Nicolas had posted a bunch of pics of his Polas on various colored straps, some brown, and they looked awesome. I am thinking, however, that a croc strap to dress it up or a Nato to dress it down is the way to go for me.

Yeah, it would be pretty hard for me to mess up this one, right?

Marc, thanks for the info/hint. I will pursue this and I am also trying to order a custom strap (rubberized leather) from ABP in the mean time.
I live in Dubai and options are really limited here when it comes to finding straps etc.
