Although several by now have posted first pictures of the running arrivals of the

Reverso TT 1931, I’ve decided to post this, not without with some kind reluctance , as it will

not just list objective findings, but merely convey emotions and perceptions:

Nevertheless:

Thus, I thought to maybe share some experiences, some feelings – less a description

but more journey of passionate interest:

Act 1: The Occasion –

So, yesterday there was this unexpected call from my AD, to let me know of the arrival of the TT R 31 here

, telling me that they had just – knowing me – made a demonstration/tentative

reservation for me – actually as the No 1 listed customer in the City, for the whole country (!?)

they said with a polite, almost sheepish smile ..

Well, I though, why not – let’s go there, have an impression in the real, take this

oppurtunty to see how it feels

– but I had seen it in promotional and forum pictures, so no real surprise probably

– that’s what I thought, at least.

Also, a number of watch projects , interests pending for me and in the works somehow,

– hence, a really nice occasion

Act 2: The Encounter –

What shall I say, from the first moment I was VERY much drawn to this piece, the

proportions & dimensions, the UT – case, and then – well this dial, this magnificent

dial.

- so much appeal, so much class: those very low-key indices, two-hands only – very pure,

almost eclectic .. – and then also this, how to say minimalistic, iconic signage with

„Reverso“, nothing else..

Further, I discover something quite unexpected: in different lighting conditions the dial

indices take somehow another appearance: More white in direct, frontal light and

then when turning, when exposing it to a more diffuse, indirect lighting, the warmer, more

vintage- type look – quite different both – An illusion maybe, but a truly nice one ..

On top, then this very intense black, low-key, and noble, elegant but with a

demanding strong presence, nevertheless,

Alltogether very INTENSO Reverso ..

On the wrist – judge for yourself: on my rather small wrist I like it a lot, good

proprotions, a very nice feel – great to look at

- pretty much a black Sirene’s song ..

Act 3 : The Reflection –

Next: so what to do, what should I do ?- Somewhat, subconsciously almost, in the plan

she has been, but not really now, maybe not yet;

- recently had acquired some of my first moderate Vintage JLC’s, a TD lately , also my new MMV Int’l, and then – the

lovely DAS Mermaid(s) soon to come – isn’t that a bit too much, overdoing my

portfolio for this year, stretching the wallet ?

WAIT , says the head, you will get it soon enough; take your time, it is not an LE, in addition.

And – well, maybe there will be better prizes, even a discount from the AD, (or some

goodies), once the hype has abided ..

NO, says the heart: „This is IT, the ICON, the Tribute 1931, The Huitantieme ( in a way)

and you like it, don’t you ?

Maybe more than many watches I have been acquiring, so far, that’s true, reasonably

prized ( „Enough watch for the buck really ? – 2 hands and no other indications ! “ -

the head fights back ..).

Act 4: The Moment of Last Suspense

Surrender ? - Go (home) and reflect , or full – heartedly jump, and if so – right on the spot

?? – (Well, other customers are in line for her, this very first piece, thats for sure

- So, stay cool, think it over, other projects on the line ..)

But then, says the heart:

Isn’t it also about BELONGING, to a community, sharing a great

LGM tradition, honoring a spirit, by wearing it in pride – the ICON, one of the most

acclaimed , one of the almost uncomparable ICONS, in design, but also in history of horlogerie ..

Thus, what would I do, NO - should I do , will one do ??

Act 5: Conclusion or What the Future brings – The story of the Heart: --

I’ ll leave that up to your imagination, as everybody follows his or her own dreams;

patterns of decision – making at times are rational, but patterns of deciding on objects of

desire are not: these are irrational, even stupid, BUT very joyful !

Finally, what HAVE I done in fact – well, THAT likely is another story , pretty soon also here, rather likely..

But maybe you know it anyway, if you have been bearing with me so far and kindly have

read these lines, hopefully with a benevolent , knowledgeable smile

Hopefully also you will apologize these, maybe lengthy dwellings, I nevertheless, decided to

share with you for a great time we are in, as watch enthusiasts, for another great

Tribute edition, at least for me !

No matter, if you decide to get one yourself or just look, just touch , it maybe truly

worth reflecting and - YES , feeling about it ..

The reason I did not enter the shop when I saw that watch in the window of an AD in Paris was to make sure that I would not be tempted and for sure I would have been.

I know you a bit,  now, and would be very surprised if you didn't go back home WITHOUT the TT 1931 on your wrist.

I don't know why, an intuition, maybe?

Sometimes we grow by not acting, sometimes we loose by inactivity,
- But often we emerge with a more " inward look", on outward goals ..

Enrichment it frequently will be, to enjoy the crossroads while we are there,
looking into different directions, exhibiting great vistas on each avenue ..

... simply rule of thumb... just go with the one that is calling you most... but if still not certain.. simply wait a bit more

then repeat this cycle several times, you will know the answer then...LOL

As you and many of us here will know, not all is moving in circles ..
Sometimes, it takes a little jump or cutting corners.

And sometimes, it's even adviseable to turn the puzzle upside down
- then take a fresh look - often a clearer picture will emerge.

Well, only you in your heart know the answer, my friend!

 

Today I had the chance to see the TT 1931 for the first time in the metal…

 

I DID walk away empty handed since I know what is closest to my heart!

 

It really hurt (especially since my AD had my special number on the LE) but I have to stay strong and keep the course, because making a triple is not an option for me right now...
