Here is another original Memovox from the 70ies, the Ref E 3072.

When the brand entered the Seventies, some funky Memovoxes saw the light, such as the Snowdrop, the Polaris II, the TV screen, and ... this one.

All these funky Memovoxes share one common point, an all new high beat ( 28 800 vibrations per hour ) Alarm movement, the Cal 916, which replaced the Bumper movements ( Cal 815 / 825 ), and which was introduced in 1969.

Here you have an original variation in the ovale shapes.

While the dial and the sapphire are clearly shaped like a rugby balloon, the case is somewhere between the ovale and the rectangle.





The case back is screwed in, as you can see:



The blue dial is awesome, very vibrant, with some original applied round hour markers.





Original, this is the word I used the most to describe this watch which can be considered as a faithful witness of the Seventies.

I have to say that it is much more interesting in the flesh than in pictures.

There is something attractive, pleasant, in this Memovox, which drives me very seriously to think about getting one.

That is the pain, but also the pleasure with Memovoxes: They are so many, so diverse, so unique in their kind, that it is very difficult to limit ouself to only one.

One last word about the crowns: On the pictured watch, the crowns are not correct, as they should be like those on Blomman's one, mounted on a bracelet:

We obviously see quite often this kind of cases but with case shapes closer to the round ones... or along the horizontal axis.

This is very unusual for me to see such shape along a vertical axis.

Is the bracelet dedicated to this watch or was it adapted? It works fine with the watch.

Enjoyed again these top- post marvellous shots by Nico of the Blue Lady, (which BTW are not that easy , I learned) .. Remember that occasion vividly with pleasure

So, to end this little ad-on, the " other coat" with a matching stingray strap, ( galuca),
IMO enhancing the blue- turquiose dial and delivering a flashy match to the polshed indices
Thus, here the lady in Blue with her Blue Knight in metal ( thx Blomman for the Duo)

Thank you for reminding us of this funky lady, Nicolas!

 

At first glance you might think it’s “just another funky egg” from that time…

 

There was a few with similar case shape:

 

The E 861…

 

 

 

The E 870…

But when you look closer there is a much bigger difference between the 3072 and the others.

 

The E 861 and the E 873 has almost identical cases, the difference is the colour of the dial and movement (Cal 825 vs. Cal 916).

 

The E 870 still has a round dial.

 

But look at the 3072…

 

 

 

Not as elegant shape as the others, a somewhat odd shape on the hands and crowns…

 

High glossy index that makes them changes colours all the time…

 

The toned dial with darker edges…

 

A watch that makes you thinks…

 

And re-think again and again!

 

At least the High Precision is Guaranteed!

 

 

 

 

For sure a piece much better in real then in pics!

To wear one E3072 properly one needs sideburns, a orange bell pants and one of those 70's shirts.

both this watch (and your circular second reverso) revel in the tension between the inner circle and the outer shape of the case.....

... with the bracelet together, it looks so powerful too.
