My last arrival : Reverso platinum power reserve
I have quite a strange relationship with the Reverso. It is the first classical watch I've known and loved as I was a teen but I never could find a model which pleases me !
Last year, I thought it was done with the ultrathin tribute to 1931 black dial : sober, as a Reverso should be imho, so without any complications, on a croco strap, with its caseback in the purest tradition ready to get an engraving :
In fact, it didn't work at all ! Manual winding + no seconds hands=numerous unprevious watchstops !
So I got late to my appointments. Arrrgh !
I sold it 5 months later.
Somewhere deeply hidden in my head, I had in memory a platinum Revrso seen in the JLC boutique with a gorgeous grey dial : ruthenium.
Very soon after selling the Tribute to 1931, I did participate to a JLC master Class in Paris (perfectly organized by the way) . At this occasion, I took a issue of a revue called Chronos, a special edition dedicated to Reverso. And I saw it : the Reverso platinum power reserve.
It got everything I was looking for :
- the grey ruthenium dial
- an elegant guilloché
- a small seconds hand
- the floral numbers
- the good shape for hands
- the perfect case size
- a platinum deployant buckle (and not a WG one, thanks JLC !) combined with a deep blue croco strap : the perfect combo !
This watch has been manufactured only in 2004. It is the only one platinum Reverso which is not in limited edition (the other models are in 500 ex). But unofficially figures seem to prove that this power reserve has been produced at less than 500ex.
Then begins the haunting... I've found this model, never worn, and recently serviced by JLC Switzerland (for the oil, I presume).

The ruthenium dial is to die for, indeed, and in a GT case, it is a small but marvellous jewel.
The floral numbers are made in silver powder, did you know that?

I thought that it would be easier to find than the other platinum Reverso. I also was attracted by the beautiful balanced of the dial and the movement of the tourbillon n°2 and there were some for sale on the market.
But this one, almost none.
I'd like to get an engraving on the caseback. As my son is very attracted by this reverso and will get it one day, the only problem is to decide now what is to be engraved ;-)))
