I’m stuck in a quandary and normally I would not pose such a question as I’m usually decisive and know what my heart desires.
However, in this case, some feedback and suggestions would be highly appreciated, as I’m unable to reach a verdict in this case.
I currently own the DSA Euro and had contemplated adding the US version to complete the set as I really enjoy wearing this watch. It’s also the right size for me. So when I passed by the boutique the other day and noticed a US version in the show window, I couldn’t help but take a good look at it. I was very tempted but decided to ‘think it over’.
I then went to pay a visit to a familiar AD from across the street just to browse around and to see if there’s anything of interest. He took out a tray and I immediately noticed a Polaris ’68 Tribute. I was surprised to still find one brand new, to say the least! I had dismissed this watch the first time round when it was introduced, as being too big / thick for my wrist and the faux patina indices somewhat bothered me. However, after trying it on, it felt and looked pretty good. I set the alarm and it sounded sweet and was more melodious than the DSA’s buzzing. I also liked the domed plexi and even though the watch was thicker than the DSA, it didn’t feel uncomfortable on the wrist. Also the faux patina didn’t look out of place as I had gotten use to it with the DSA and this one is the second version without the full lume and orange markers.
Actually, thinking about it at this very moment, one of them has a very slight edge over the other as I type.
But I would like to hear what everybody else’s thoughts are on whether I should pick the matching DSA and complete the set or go for the Polaris with some variation on the dive theme. I am not consciously working on a dive theme but recently I seem to have fallen for these Tributes, with another recent acquisition that again didn’t appeal to me when it was first introduced. I’ll come to that one a bit later. Any pictures of either of these two watches will be most welcome.
Looking forward to your replies. Many thanks.

Of these 2.
They have two different characters.
The TT Polaris is close to a Panerai, in terms of feeling.
Big, powerful, thick, it has al ot of presence, and offers an immediate pleasure.
It is more eye catching than the TT DSA.
The TT DSA Europe plays a different card: It is more elegant, more discrete.
As for the sound of the alarm, the cricket sound was deliberately chosen, to make it sound like the original.
I hear you, you already own the DSA US, and it is very tempting to do the duo.
It is also very tempting to go for the Polaris, to go on with your journey into the Tributes, as it seems that you also went for a rectangular one, if i guessed it right.
The solution would be to get both the Polaris and the Deep Sea alarm, but you will have to face a frustrating situation: You won't find the other TT Polaris, the'65, unless you're willing to pay for the platinum one, as the SS TT P 65 was made in a LE of 65 pieces.
So, in this very particuar situation, I would opt for the TT P 68.
Best,
Nicolas
after reading what you wrote I'm getting a clearer picture as to which way to go. It's either the Polaris 68 or the DSA US. The 65 or the Pt. piece are not on my sights yet but maybe if it presents itself then I'll worry about it then
. I'm glad you responded so quickly as it's always a pleasure and a privilege to get your expert opinion on these matters. Thanks my friend! And you are right about the rectangular piece.

I guess the chance of my catching another BNIB Polaris 68 is probably less likely than a DSA US but on the other hand there are less of the DSA US in total circulation. Getting both would definitely solve the problem and the easy way out.
But then there won't be this thread for everyone to participate and enjoy. Or to confuse me more and make me suffer.
Thanks for you response.
cheers

and you have a very good point why I should pick the Polaris as it would add variety, being a totally different watch. I am actually leaning in this direction.
Major congrats on your DSA US! (pls. post soon) That's one less for me if I should ever want one.

One nice summary of JLC hits from the past.
Best, Fernando, and congratulations.
