All the best.
Nicolas.
JLC used two different date wheels.
One with a more narrow font like on yours and mine.

One with more bold font, like this one (not mine any more, but it used to be).

I have never been able to confirm if it has to be due to metal or just different batches of production...
Anybody got a clue?

Now if you compare the " one digit " date with another " one digit " one, will there still be a difference?
I was not aware of that, I just want to eliminate some hypothesis...
Interesting...

Nicolas
Straight font, and more narrow.

Or was it just a service date Wheel, for example?

But, the Gold one has never been serviced.
My steel has been serviced, but they didn't exchange the date wheel AFAIK.
For sure the Gold version looks much better and I have been suspecting that mine had a replacement.
But, now when I see Martins (also SS) with the same as mine I start to wonder...

Both that the first pics are of the prototype AND that they might change from year to year during production... !

make subtle "upgrades" or changes, largely depending on who the "decision maker" is, and whether he or she likes a particular font.

Here is a better comparision pic from some years ago when both of them were mine...

The angle makes the Gold look bigger, but look at the font - the SS version is much more narrow.
