JLC used two different date wheels.

One with a more narrow font like on yours and mine.

One with more bold font, like this one (not mine any more, but it used to be).

I have never been able to confirm if it has to be due to metal or just different batches of production...

Anybody got a clue?

Now if you compare the " one digit " date with another " one digit " one, will there still be a difference?

I was not aware of that, I just want to eliminate some hypothesis...

But, the Gold one has never been serviced.

My steel has been serviced, but they didn't exchange the date wheel AFAIK.

For sure the Gold version looks much better and I have been suspecting that mine had a replacement.

But, now when I see Martins (also SS) with the same as mine I start to wonder...

These two details of the Master Chronograph dial are taken from the 2010 and the 2013 catalogue:

The same happened with the Master Honetime between the 2012 and 2013 catalogue.

It seems that either JLC are sometimes changing the fonts during production or that prototype pictures are used for the marketing material .

make subtle "upgrades" or changes, largely depending on who the "decision maker" is, and whether he or she likes a particular font.

that I found this group of people as crazy about watch design as I am.  Things that 99% of the people would look over or not even notice, you notice here, you care about, and you discuss with insight and passion.

I think we have the most interesting JLC Forum, with really greatb JLC Lovers, Fans, Collectors... And Watch nuts.

The angle makes the Gold look bigger, but look at the font - the SS version is much more narrow.
