Greetings to all!
After 21 weeks away for service, my EOT arrived back home this past weekend. Looks fine (I didn't have the case refinished, as I'm just going to wear it again anyway), runs great.
So -- can you tell why I'm sending it back?

Seems it's always something...
Best,
Gary G
Hope it is corrected and back to you quickly. In any case, it is such an amazing and beautiful watch.

Sorry to read this, Gary! That's so frustrating. I am not sure how zen I personally could've been about this issue had it been my watch!
Hope you've been well!
Cheers,
Daos
I've been really busy lately so away from the fora pretty much -- great to get a note from you.
Pretty frustrating to send one's watch away for so long only to have them get it wrong -- the good news is that it should be a very simple fix (uncase the watch, move the hand, recase the watch).
I recall answering a quiz you posted a while ago about the "one watch" I would keep, and responding that it was this EOT. So, I guess I won't be getting rid of it any time soon!
Hope you are well -- as of today looks as if we'll be doing business in Seoul at least for the rest of this year, so I'll have to try to find a local watch scene! I did see a Van Cleef Midnight in Paris a couple of weeks ago here (one of my faves even if it isn't at the top of everyone's lists).
All the best,
Gary G
Hello Gary,
What a beautiful watch! The EOT remains my "grail" watch. My wife got me the latest 43mm Jules Audemars version in YG for my 45th birthday! I was torn between the WG and the YG versions; the YG matches my wedding band and Stanford class ring, but the WG version with the black band is pure horological beauty. In the end I felt the YG model is a more timeless classic. I will post pictures upon my return in about two weeks.
It is good to see the AP Forum has a few electrons buzzing around that are not carrying RO or ROO information. Unfortunately, I am a little concerned about the poor service support for your watch. I hope this is an isolated incident because I purchased my EOT in Chicago, but I would like to change the cams to reflect my Minneapolis homestead. Minnesota does not have an AP dealer. Why did you have your watch in for service and were you expecting it to take 20+ weeks?
FYI, one of the the top watch auction sites has your model listed at no reserve! Even though I love my gift, it would be even better had it not cost so much
The last EOT in WG sold at this same auction sight fetched far less than the retail, and it was the later 43mm case. I like your WG case because it has the luminous hands and markers which were dropped for the more formal hands in the later version. Judging by your case quality, I would say the sportier design of your model has been with you during some sporting times.
I remain baffled by the devaluation in such an incredible watch. Even at retail prices, nothing comes close in terms of value given it is a perpetual calendar with (a very accurate) moon phase, sunrise, sunset, and EOT customized for your location on this planet. Martin Braun has some cool, esoteric complications, but the AP panache--especially as executed by Jules Audemars-- is missing in the MB pieces. I'm not knocking MB for this but elevating AP.
Cheers (finally),
Byron

Thanks, Jerry. I will start the conversation about ordering a cam when I return home. Good luck with your install. I hope the TAR (turnaround) is less than the ETA on your EOT.
To a great watch and a bunch of acronyms!
Byron
Great to read about your impressions of this great piece -- and congrats on owning the newer version of this beauty. They do depreciate, though -- I've been told that the geography-specific element of the design (my watch is a San Francisco piece, and happily that's where I live!) limits the market, and it's a specialty piece to begin with. Still, for an ultracomplicated watch the "used" prices are a steal. I actually bought mine lightly used a few years ago at a mouth-watering price, so I'm pleased to put a few bucks into service.
By the way, the case is in a lot better shape than that picture suggests! I didn't spend any time looking for a decent angle, so happened to catch it just at the angle where every tiny scratch looks like a trench...
Best,
Gary G

Out of curiosity Gary do they give you any form of compensation for wasting your time on this? As well as retaining your watch?
Chris
We'll see about any compensation -- I did mention to the AD that if AP asked, I'd be pleased for them to refinish the bezel. That said, I'm not holding my breath.
The original time quoted for the initial service was 14 weeks, and it took 20 -- not good. Now this -- we'll see how rapidly AP turns it around.
Best,
Gary G
