Good Monday morning everybody,
One of my weaknesses are very simple dress watches and among those, I like Vacherons most. So when 2010 SIHH Vacheron Constantin introduced Historiques Ultra-Fine 1955, I got excited for a moment. It is a very slim, simple and elegant watch with a wonderful in-house movement designed by JLC. A nice detail in the movement are the golden bridges. For a moment I thought if I should start to save money for this watch. However, I had an unused simple AP in the storage...

And for me this AP is a better size than VC: 38 mm vs. 36 mm.
Furthermore, my AP has the same movement as VC Historiques Ultra-Fine 1955 and also with golden bridges:

I really like the buckles of Vacheron, but the folding clasp of my AP is not bad either.

So in the end what happens is that my slim Jules Audemars will go today back to the bank vault and my simple Royal Oak will get a lot more wrist time. That is one of the very right watches for the beautiful summer days close to the sea.
Enjoy the starting week!
Kari
This picture closer to the sunset shows what I love in the dial of the Royal Oak: sometimes it is black, sometimes grey and sometimes just blue.
Best, Kari

And your nice Jules Audemars for some dressy events?
A great pair of APs, my friend.
It seems that, lastly, you found several watches you lost!
Best, Kari.

starts to be complicated. For the seaside walks I have the nice RO, Nautilus, Aqua Lung and I just found Brequet Marine and VC Overseas. This week I'll get the Yact Master and I have some other "needs".
With my diving I start to have the same problem: several Rolexes, two Fifty Fathoms, Sea Hawk, Seiko Marine Master, four JLCs...
And the worst are the dress watches: I have more of them than opportunities to dress well in a year.
So all in all, too many watches start to be a problem. However, my problem is a small one compared with yours But all in all, we share a most positive problem!!
Best, Kari
The hands, hour markers and AP logo are a part of the attraction of the dial. In different light conditions, the whole dial is changing the character.
Brgds, Kari
aaah so the sticks and logo are silver, as i suspected ?Choosing is such a delicious problem, my friend. By: amanico : June 28th, 2010-22:25 Indeed, Kari, we both share this delicious problem. It also allows us to re discover some great watches. For example, my RO jumbo. I didn't wear it for months, and lately I wore it for a whole week, with great pleasure. Like you, I found it!
Best, Nicolas I would also like to find a RO Jumbo By: dr.kol : June 29th, 2010-00:22 but I'm afraid that the only place I can find it is a shop. What makes owning a couple of watches very pleasing is the fact that at least my knowledge is increasing every day and that is changing the piorities. I.e. a couple of years ago when I bought my RO, the new 3120 movement looked much better on paper than the movement of the Jumbo. Today I would choose differently. Still, writing this comment with my RO on the wrist is a pleasure. Best, Kari
