Hello,
I've been researching watch brands and have seen many posts comparing AP to Patek and Vacheron, as they are considered the "big three". I am curious about the forums thoughts on where Parmigiani fits in with these brands, specifically with their "entry level" watches. For example, when considering quality of movement as well as case, finish, etc., how would the following models compare;
Parmigiani Kalpa XL vs. AP Royal Oak vs. VC Overseas.
Parmigiani Kalpa Hebdomadaire or Kalpagraph vs. AP ROO vs. Nautilus
I've had several Jewelers tell me Parmigiani matches up very well with these brands, and that the quality of their movements is outstanding(as well as being in-house). But I do not hear much about their watches. I have a small and modest watch collection, and am looking to add what I would consider to be my "heirloom" watch(for my means). Please share your thoughts...
Thanks, Josh
One man's opinion: Parmigiani makes a fine watch, but for an heirloom, stick to Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet, even if it means waiting and saving longer.

Hi all,
Thank you very much for the input- I greatly appreciate the good feedback. I must say, currently my top 2 choices are either the 15300 in SS with the white dial, or the Rose gold version- same dial color.
One kind of random question, I'm not sure there's really an answer out there- I've seen some comments on the water resistance of this model. I'm curious, for such an iconic design, especially considering it's place as first SS luxury sports watch, why has AP never upgraded the water resistance of this model over the years to at least 100m? Not that it really matters, 50m is still plenty to swim in, but I'm just curious.
Thanks again,
Josh
