Picture no 2: This is is getting right to the matter (and even here, what's missing here is also one of the 2 things missing in the add, and it's not the oscellating weight) (picture is owned by the Purist 'Foversta') ... this one gives it away.

This is an interesting ad,
Is it just me or is there 'something' missing / wrong with this photo??
Talk about 'enhancing your profile!' I'm sure they didn't run it for very long... maybe the needed to jump start sales on items that weren't even finished yet.

I think there should be an AP on the crown
but I don't see one in this photo.

OK, there is a wheel/gear missing
below the crown, at the top of the movement in relation to how the watch is positioned in the first photo. Don't know what #2 is.

Yeah,
It's the winding ratchet for when the watch is manually wound (there's this weird void right below the crown as you saw, and then as in the picture of the disassembled movement there's a gear that's connected to the automatic winding of the rotor.
It's just interesting to me, and very funny, that for an advert that focuses so much on the movement, they made a huge blunder with sticking in a watch that
could not be wound in any way! (i.e. the crown won't wind the mainspring, nor will the rotor!)......
Maybe it was an angry photographer cum watchmaker who disliked a moving balance in the photograph and decided to take matters into his own hands!

I see the second missing piece now
Perhaps they thought the average shopper would not notice this, I know there are many here that would notice it, but many here and the masses would not. I would have just looked at the photo quickly and moved on if you had not alerted me to the fact that something was missing. But you are right in the fact that considering AP is a high end brand, they are going to have more educated, discerning customers, and it seems rather stupid to put an incomplete watch in an add.
