Dear friends,
I encountered an issue with an AP ROO Steel Novelty 26400SO recently when I brought in the watch to AP Service Center here in Singapore and they told me that the watch warranty was void because it had been open up before.
I was alarmed and taken aback by this news because the person whom I bought this from claimed that it was under-warranty and had never been open up before.
I went back to ask the seller of this watch about this and he ( the seller by the way is a fellow trader on watchprosite so I trust his credentials) told me that he had sent in the watch to his original Authorized Dealer ,Carlson Watch hongkong, to perform regulating as the timing was fast by 10 seconds daily. To his knowledge, the AD had sent it in to AP Hongkong to perform the regulating.
when I spoke with AP Singapore about this, they told me to ask the seller to provide the letter or email from AP hongkong stating that the watch had been brought in to them for regulating and then they will internally speak with AP Hongkong.
What is strange is why AP Hongkong and Singapore aren't talking internally about this already ? or at least have some central record system to track watches that they've taken in from their AD's for servicing etc.
Can anyone tell me whom I can escalate this to ? I find this very strange and disheartening - having been supporting AP for so many years, I would expect better transparency on their back-end systems.
Thanks!
Nop
Yes Michael, AP service has always been good in my eyes. I am just wary to accuse my fellow members of any wrongdoing until I get an official statement from AP.
to be fair to the seller, he has shared the original AP service center Job receipt for the servicing done and he has also sent me the original AD purchase receipt to corroborate that he is the first owner.
Hence, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he is truthful and honest. I buy the seller before the watch , as the saying goes. I will have to wait and see the update from AP Singapore in order to see if I speak with the seller to discuss next steps of the refund should the report come back that is not under warranty, which of course is quite a hassle for me but nonetheless, as a matter of principle, I will seek and expect that from him as I know he would of me , should the roles and situation be reversed.
Of course, I hope this is ALL just a big misunderstanding and AP HK and Singapore can sort this all out and reinstate the warranty for me , but it is all in the hands of my favorite brand now
Will keep everyone posted of the developments. Thanks again to AP for the prompt and professional service!
