Blancpain

So I sent my Flyback chrono to Blancpain for a full service. Mine has the original tritium dial and hands but I understand that when they replace the hands, they replace with the newer Luminova material so will my watch end up looking weird from green luminova hands mixed with the older yellowish tritium numerals on the dial? 

Plus, I read that with the flyback, the large sweep second hand really needs to be replaced due to the force used with the flyback function.

There aren’t many manufacturers left that will even service their own watches without replacing the hands. It’s a conundrum for collectors, since it’s ideal having the watch serviced by the same manufacturer that made it, but in doing so they will affect the appearance of the watch.

I sent an email to the guy I’m working with at Blancpain in NYC and see what he says but I’m prepared to have it come back with the superluminova I guess.

But it doesn’t look that bad so I’ll just leave it. Wish they could still at least color match it somehow.

But I would need the original dial returned to me in order to do it.                                          

As it’s only an extra $200. Might as well have everything match.

That way, you can get any watchmaker to swap the hands for future resale (if you want).

Why can't they just give you your original parts back? They're yours.
If it was a car that you were having repaired or modified you would certainly get the original parts back just by asking for them. I don't get it...

Why? What are they gonna do with them? (is that a stupid question?)

You’re right, they didn’t give my old parts back like they did with my Speedmaster.

I’ll see what the guy at Blancpain NYC replies with. I think it’s inevitable that they replace the hands and I’ll have to live with a bit of a different look like I did with my Speedmaster. They did give me back my old parts with the Speedy Pro so maybe I can ask for the old parts back with the Flyback.

To replace the dial with the hands to all Superluminova so I agreed. It’ll come back as a brand new watch! LOL.

Is your watch back from service yet? Am curious how the new dial and hands look compared to the old dial and new hands look

They projected that it would be done sometime in January. I’ll post pics when it is done.

It’s amazing how long they take to service these watches. 

Check if you can get the original hands back as some brands for instance Omega return all the parts replaced back to the owner aftet service. It is not ideal as they won’t leave the original hands untouched but at least they might serve again later.

Though i requested for the old hands to be kept, it was mandatory replacement as Swatch could not promise the original hands would not break during servicing. However they returned all the old parts to me (unlike Rolex) - Hope it is still the practice. 

Or another watch under the swatch group?

Swatch replaced the hands for both during servicing.

Thanks…doesn’t look bad at all. In my case, I’m asking them to replace the dial as well so I guess I’ll see how it turns out.
