Bond should be wearing a Fifty Fathoms!
I am not posting this in the Omega forum as I know I’d probably get stoned (hey, I have an Omega too). lol. But was thinking that Bond really should not be wearing a Seamaster. I mean, we all know Bond drives an Aston Martin…an exclusive and highly stylish automobile, and pairing him with an Omega is like him driving a BMW. Even a Rolex doesn’t really suit him as it is too commercialized (like a Mercedes). Therefore, I say Bond should be wearing a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms of some iteration (maybe a Bathyscaphe since it doesn’t have a more fragile sapphire bezel), but regardless definitely not an Omega. Lol.
Now for those that say that it’s just because Omega paid for the product placement, well Omega falls under the Swatch Group which Blancpain does also, so why not switch the marketing budget to the partner brand that is more exclusive and exquisite? The Blancpain. There, I said it. Prove I’m wrong. 😆

Movies and what they’re doing with the franchise now, not the past, so it really doesn’t matter which Omega of the past. The most recent ones from the most recent movies IMHO should be changed to Blancpain as the new supplier going forward. 😁

I will remind you that when NASA strapped Speedmasters to the wrists of Apollo astronauts one of the reasons was the FAILURE of Rolex in testing. With regard to BP I’m guessing MI6 did not want to pay 30% more for the same (or less) performance.
Then why the Aston?
It doesn’t perform better than a Porsche but it is more exclusive, expensive, and stylish. He often even drives the old Aston’s. Remember, Bond’s image is of style. He drinks martinis and eats Caviar…no domestic beer for him. 😆

he drives an antique Bentley (an old project he payed for) as mentioned in Casino Royale. His lifestyle is payed for by the winnings of his own private gambling…also mentioned in a number of the books including Casino…

But are you saying the new Astons that were supplied to him in recent movies that were prototypes even purchased by Q or Bond’s winnings? I doubt it was from his winnings. The car was actually assigned to another 00 before he stole it for himself. The books even said he wore a Rolex, no? So we can’t go by the books. It’s the image that is being sold now in the new flicks and Omega doesn’t suit him.

These items including a jet pack were / are based on mission specific capability not fashion…period end of story. It is also noteworthy that most of the special issue items from Q branch are British made.

Why was the latest Aston assigned to another 00? Lashana Lynch (the female 007 in the latest Bond flick, No Time to Die) also was assigned the Aston DBS Superleggera, a $330K car)). They are obviously selling style and exclusivity in those movies now. But we can agree to disagree.

I think Bremont would be apropos but still prefer he wore a FF. More exclusive and stylish. Plus, since Q is already sourcing his watches from the Swatch Group as the approved vendor, he can easily just file the report to request the BP instead. 😆

When he drove the Bimmer, the Omega was apropos! No longer though. And yes, the novels do say he wears a Rolex, but I’m not talking about the novels…just the most recent movies which show him driving those expensive Astons. 😁

The SAS wore Omega Seamasters in the 60s. They started to wear mostly Rolex not before the early 70s.
Bond is "a child of the 60s", because the spirit in the books became a broad movement not before (certainly not in the 50s when the books were mostly written). Furthermore, the first movie came in 62 so imo it is obvious that he should wear Omega and that it really is authentic to let him wear these.
Edit: and let us not forget that Fleming wrote the Bond Books with WW2 as the major inspiration. And Omega was by far the biggest supplier for watches in the UK. It is 100% Omega imo

You guys are correct in the references
To the original novels, but times have changed since the 50’s and the franchise now is product placing highly exclusive and stylish items (see my posts above) and so I’m saying that since they are doing this, they should update to a more fancy and exclusive diver watch for Mr. Bond. If they wanted to keep the movies true to the original stories, then yes, stick with the Omegas and Rolexes.
Listen, I know what I say doesn’t matter anyway because who’s gonna listen to me? Lol. But, I would like it if they would product place the FF in the movies for him to wear. If you look at the various YouTube reviews of the Bond Seamasters, you’ll see comments below where the Omega and Bond fanboys say they got their Seamasters because of those Bond flicks. I’m sure Omega made a pretty penny on their investment by doing this product placement and Blancpain could also benefit from this for their line of watches and since they also fall under the Swatch umbrella, why wouldn’t Swatch want to cash in on that as well? To me, I think it is a win win, for them as it would create a lot more attention for their 50 Fathoms line (more so than creating that plastic Swatch), while also be fitting and an appropriate allocation to a 00 agent like Bond since he already has high taste in fancy and exclusive cars. I’m sorry, but in my opinion, an Omega is not exclusive enough. I myself own a Speedy Pro and vintage gold Deville that I like a lot, and also have owned a Seamaster and Constellation, but I do not think they are up to the finishing standards or exclusivity of Blancpain.
