I am contemplating purchasing the limited ed. steel LUC regulator and was wondering if i could get some feedback/response frm owners/ fans of LUC on how they find their LUC watches and what they think of it. At that price point, quite a few "desirable" watched come into play and i was wondering whether at the end of the day the regulator would be a good choice. Thanks in advance.

Would like to ask you several questions, hopefully able to understand your thoughts better.

Why did you shortlist a L.U.C Regulator?

Is there any reason you are not choosing the gold casing?  Anything to do with religion?
Or it just you like the styling?

The Steel Regulator is a more contemporary design and it does not have Geneva Seal.  Whereas the more classic and precious metal casing, the movment is with Poinçon de Genève.

The LUC regulator caught my attention when I saw an advert for it as its visually stunning and also has certain functions that I am looking out for eg. dual time, long power reserve. Then popped down to the AD today and saw it up close - was pretty stunning. The problem I have is that I dont know much (reliability, movement, finishing etc) about LUC as compared to the other brands which I am considering (Langhe + FPJ). Was also pretty suprised at the price point in which the LUC (granted that it is ltd ed (250 I understand) was placed at; as I mentioned that price point would put into play certain watches from those two brands. It is pure styling that attracted me to the steel version - visually more attractive as compared to the gold one.

The contenders you mentioned are the fantastic FPJ & Lange.

From finishing point of view, L.U.C is one of the best in the market  for a  fair price.
I would say it could be better than FPJ and equal with the clinical Lange.  Arm yourself with a loupe over 3X magnification ( the ADs only provide 3X, which could not see much )  5X or 10X. 
Take a careful look of the work of FPJ, Lange and L.U.C... observe the anglage and polishing work of each brand.












L.U.C also decorate the inside of the plates (which are not visible to us, but to watchmakers) with perlage work. Beside the for decorative purpose, the perlage will remove any unwanted material on the plate and also at the same provide a clean and level surface which is critical to precision of the movement.

As for reliability, the Tech Regulator is build on the famous Quattro-Tech (216hours/ 9 day power reserve) Calibre 1.98 .  This stable calibre was about 10 year-old.  The Regulator has also won 'Watch of the Year'  in 2004.

From your post,  both the form and function seem to fit well to your criterias.

Visit your AD again to view again, and compare the 3 shortlisted together.  See which attracts you most.
