Never Chopard again, ( or get a fake then you know what you have)
Let me tell a long story but shows how I get to the point to say don’t buy Chopard,
I have one of the 1st Mille Miglia Jacky Icks series nice classic and sports look.
I have made cleaning service at Chopard around every 2 year.
Last service was 2 year ago.
But last Year I get suddenly in the watch “water” ??? (and this with out putting the watch in the water, swimming or diving ) only by washing my hands also the watch have never get damaged.
I have bring the watch to a local Chopard agent ( Bucherer AG Lugano Sw) This was on the 06 Jun 2008.
I called the dealer on 1st week of Jul 2008 (one month later ) as I have got no info about what was going on…. (I get the answer that Chopard service was already on vacation) But no info, about the watch problem.
On the 1st Sep 2008 I have send an e-mail and have ask for explanations. I get the following answer from Chopard that I have to pay for the repair of the watch and this will cost 400 Euro they will have to change several part of the watch??
I have simply refused to pay as this watch is supposed to stand water tight until 100 meter
All the damage I have in the watch was because of the water infiltration. I have informed Chopard dealer about the fact that I will not be agreed to pay and ask in the e-mail that this is covered by Chopard as defect.
Then I get an e-mail on the 24th Nov 2008 that my watch was repaired and that I can pass the shop AND PAY THE 400 EURO………………………………
Since then I am in a dead corridor if I want my watch back I have now to pay the bill that I have refused to pay by e-mail and by phone????
We are now the 21st Jan 2009 and I have got no proposition or solution or contact anymore what do you think, what should I do?????
Is this the Image that the Brand Chopard wants to give to the market, for me…..

generally you send a watch to the service centre and get an estimate. if you dont want the work done or dont want to pay for it then they send it back. if you authorise the work they fix it, you pay and you get it back ..simple.
Chopard appear to have worked on your watch without your authority and ou should tell them that telling them that you want your watch back with its original parts refitted. obviously they cant do this as they've thrown them away so you should tell them that you want your watch back, end of story. if they've chosen to do work without your authority thats their loss. do it in a nice way and point out that you've owned the watch for a long time, had it serviced by them every 2 years and should be considered valued customer so parhaps a bit of good will on their part would be appreciated.
its a lot easier to say it than do it, but you can always send a solicitors letter as a last resort.
the issue of water ingress is a different matter. if its still under repair warranty you should be fine, but if not you really havent got a leg to stand on IMO.

I have get 1st a estimation and I have on this say NO by a clear e-mail.
Was a surprise when they send me a e-mail that they have repair the watch
Thanks will continue to push to get the watch back like it was in 1st place but like you explain this is probably impossible this will then mean that they have to propose a solution to solve this.......

Yes there are some points that for me have not bean done in the right way.
I have not given all the details because this will make my e-mail to long.
But on all action contact or call I was the one that have take action not the dealer or Chopard.
On 12 Dec I have also call directly Chopard AD and they have confirm that they will call me back to look to solve this........
I am still waiting from this time ( ok I know there was Xmas I was maybe hoping about a surprise)
I am in Lugano and have passed my watch to Lugano Bucherer that is the Chopard Dealer This is alos adding problems.
Yes I will update on the progress if there is some.
I have also resend a e-mail today to the Chopard AD to get this move....

One of the big problems I am facing is the fact that they have replaced parts and have done the work That I have refused on Phone and by e-mail. The point is, or I pay the 400 Eur or I don't get my watch.
Nice way to make business......Probably the new Buisness plan of Chopard in this difficult market )
Look like Chopard have different agenda
And some time Chopard AD forget that there are people that love there watch and not having your prefered watch on you for 9 month is not nice and is very long.
Chopard AD should inform there customers what they are not doing, and that is not 1st class service.
i was thinking of taking my new happy sports for a bath, looks like can't now.
It's also WR to 100m only.
Any good experience with their watches water tightness?
