One question: is your buckle 14mm or 16mm? I also have a 14mm buckle but could not find a strap in 18/14 that I would remotely like for my watch.

The letter after the 4 digit reference number refers to the batch the watch belongs to.
I have now details about the different batches of the 7742, but the watch was in production between 1960 - 1968.

Normal differance is that:
GP put the movement together.
GP decorate the movement.
GP adjustment and balance wheel.
