Friends,
A few days ago, I showed a quick teaser of a second Gyrodate I recently found for my collection.
So it is time to provide a follow-up report and some more photos. First time I became aware of the Gyrodate was when Blomman introduced his Gyrodate here in the forum. I’m posting the link to his report here as I will not repeat some of the details on how the Day/Date function works:
When I saw the Gyrodate I was immediately hooked. For one, the concept of the Day/Date function with a rotating bezel is rather cool, but even more I was hooked by the overall look of the watch. It has a perfect size of 35mm, a great presence with the rotating bezel, almost like a dive watch. What makes it special is the inner bezel around the dial with the 5 weeks of 7 days. The way this is done shows again the attention to detail that went into the design. The way each week stands out with a shading from silver to white is fascinating and you want to look at it again and again.
My latest find has the full reference number 9080 FM (black is 9080 KA), which is the all steel version with white dial. I have to say, the white dial also works extremely well on this watch. There are some versions with gold-plated case and golden dial colour, but I do not like those very much.
So let’s put them both side-by-side. One notable difference is that the white dial is a Chronometer HF, so has a 36000 vph movement (can’t open the case, so cannot say which one) while the black dial has a normal Gyromatic caliber.
Side-by-Side, they white version appears a bit bigger, even they are exactly the same size.
A side view shows the very thoughtful case design which for me is the best feature of the Gyrodate, along of course with its cool Day/Date function.
So let’s finish off with a few wristshots of the white Gyrodate. I have added a dark brown calf strap, which I think suits well the white dial.

Congrats!
Not sure, but I think I like the white dial even more than the black....
Or maybe it is only because I don't have the white...
Best
