Girard Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Quick Review

 By: christianch : March 11th, 2022-22:54

Just a quick review of the Girard Perregaux Casquette 2.0 that I received today. My AD was wonderfuland as promised one was waiting for me

taking this photo was fairly tricky! someone else had to press the button on the right in order to display the time that stays on only for 1 seconds, so if you hold your phone you can't do it sad I tried even with a 10 seconds timer but somehow I can't coordinate the pressing to happen on the right moment

the dimensions are really perfect and fits in small wrists too. The matte ceramic of the case feels really nice !

Here is how it looks if you don't press the button fast enough!

the box is very cool !!

The watch is literally sold out everywhere and my brother wants one more than me perhaps so I think I will pass this to him. Is a very cool watch, unlike anything else!  Given the demand this is a great first release from the now independent GP.

The cons I see is that the bracelet might pinch your arm hair in some cases AND if you love mechanical watches you won't be so happy with a Quarz movement. I just tried the watch for a little while and I am not sure I like this 1 second time display. Probably is part of the quick/cool side of this watch. I am not sure if it can grow on me now that I know that in the family someone else might enjoy it more than myself wink This said I found it to be a very cool piece overall and wanted to share it with the forum asap.

What do you think?
Christian

Very out of the box

Your new GP is some kind of a horological machine.
Sharing off the grid watches is always diversity in the community.
Quartz is certainly not every’s cup of tea in a mechanical watches friends community.
Albeit design is here the key in my opinion, and i guess many of us like that.
Pushing buttons to see a watch display the time is old school lcd quartz, thanks Casio for the g shock, brings the memories back.
If i like a watch that do that with all glamour, the Pulsar is one i would try.

indeed not usual but design-wise a big winner

I also have some casio and this is more of a luxury 70's experience. The finishing is high level so I think the price is in line with quality. Indeeed Quarz not for everyone but it is really well done here. The push to tell the time not my favourite system, even casio always show the time smile

Nicely replied

Great to talk about your watch.
Let’s resume.
Because, much to say.
I had this yesterday on my lips, Bulova.
Sure you have a GP, so i did’t call Bulova.
Not only the twin, Bulova’s accutron is remarkable.
And i am honest, other Bulova’s also looking good.
We are not both American Christian, but imagine what Bulova do if you are a WIS from America?

We do not even talk about other watches from Girard Perregaux in this thread more than your Girard Perregaux.
On the package of your picture i see a Girard Perregaux bridge.
Other, on a reply of a RG, i wrote Girard Perregaux Laureato.
I know many Girard Perregaux fans are member of this community,
that is the seed to talk more about the maison.

Thank you Christian. I think it is very cool although not practical for everyday watch

As the 1 second display and low water resistant. GP should have put an auto display when we flick the watch so we do not have to push a button.

I wonder if the battery is a common one and whether we can replace the battery at any watchmaker without having to send the watch to AD?

thank you, I think the battery had to be exchanged at the AD ... doesn't seem straightforward to open but I might be wrong

I don't think the developed a special battery but I've heard it will last around 2 years.

Congratulations Christian!

I love it and you wear it well. I too have my name down for this but the watch is 5 times oversubscribed in Malaysia even before the Malaysian launch on Monday so I am not holding my breath!  Yes it is a strange looking device and I am actually used to a one second display as the Seiko clock sitting on my bedside table has the same bad habit.  I mean 5 seconds would have been better!  smile

thank you! Indeed it seems very popular also here in Switzerland few pieces were available

and only at one retailer. A combination of luck and knowing the AD since many years helped! Is certainly different, doesn't compare or wants to compete with mechanical watches.

I love mechanical watches but

if this watch was mechanical, it would have cost ten times more!

right, at this pricepoint one can't complain :)

 By: christianch : March 12th, 2022-10:44

Well some say it is pricey for a quartz watch

 By: sham1 : March 12th, 2022-11:15
but they fail to appreciate the ceramic and titanium case which for me is a huge selling point as it is always nice to have a wearable watch that will not scratch easily.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!

In a world of meetings, a clever way to check the time surreptitiously.

 By: kjkt3 : March 12th, 2022-09:58

ah I didn't think about it! but I feel in meeting you will get noticed looking at the time

 By: christianch : March 12th, 2022-10:05
while with a normal mechanical watch you can glance it and know smile

There were mechanical versions by other (high-end) makers, but I can't find images.

MBandF Uhrwerk

Maybe these two have a mechanical variation on the watch.

Looks great on the wrist! T4S. n/t

The casquette 2.0 has reached USD 27K in chrono24

 By: hoseachandra : March 16th, 2022-15:43
Albeit is there really a buyer for that. Congratulations for you or your family who got the watch.
You know the world is crazy when a quartz watch that retail for 4K now sell for 27K in less than 1 month.

wow I saw it at 222-23K but also at 40K 😧

I expected it to go perhaps a bit higher but not so many multiples in just a week or so from the release ! very strange!

I like it so either I will keep it for myself or give it to my brother...this because I have many mechanical watches that need wrist time! also I am always wearing a suit so it fits a bit better
with a sporty look I believe.

Perhaps GP will release a non-limited version? I would, if the market wants it why not. May be in steel/grey.
