Girard Perregaux

I've had my eye on this 9020 model for a long time and almost bought it in platinum many years but that piece was missing the box and papers so I passed at the time. From that point on I have always knew that I wanted one of these. This particular model, really in any metal, is quite possibly the nicest looking GP I've ever seen. If it's not the nicest looking, it's certainly in the conversation. The rose gold case with cream dial combo in this example is really attractive in person. The watch is on the thicker side but at 40mm's it wears really well on the wrist. I had thought the fit would be similar to an IWC doppelchronograph before I put it on but this GP sits on the wrist much better, and it's actually very comfortable. Two things I'm greatful for was GP leaving both the date window and Ferrari horse off of the dial. They really hit a homerun with this 1999 release! Tony

Which is 39mm's. This GP does look quite a bit larger than 40mm's due to the lugs. I will say that the GP is substantial more comfortable on the wrist than the Datograph.

Did you know about the very close relationship between GP and Ferrari? especially with the Ferrari 360 GT. This relationship with the Ferrari family was not just about watches. It was a close personal relationship and it revolved around a mutual love for all high performance mechanical machines ..... cars and watches.

The Italian owners of GP were the Macaluso family and the CEO Luigi (Gino) Macaluso and his sons (Stefano and Massimo) all raced competitively themselves.

I’m glad to see this renewed appreciation for NEO-vintage gems from GP.

More and more are discovering and snapping them up.

I have the old price lists and such and these used to retail at major $$$. I need to check but in the region of USD 30,000 or more for the solid gold. And this is back in 1999 or so. Only the mega rich could afford them.

Which was very expensive back in 1999.

I hope that more folks wake up to the GEMS from GP from 1990s.

And they are soooo inexpensive now preowned compared to what they retailed for.
