My original post was lost when this forum was upgraded to the new platform.  But here it is again, my first GP, arrived last Friday from AD.  I was originally concerned about the Big Date design, worrying that the two digits would show different shades as shown in the picture.  In actuality, it is not obvious at all when seeing the watch in metal, especially when it is on the wrist.  I am very happy with this purchase.

I also want to give a big Thank You to Peter.  You are an encyclopedia of Girard Perregaux.  I never even heard of the brand 4 years ago.  Without you and this site I would not have made my purchase.   So from another aspect, you would not be a favorite person of my wife

congratulations on a great addition and start into the world of GP!
I think the 25800 is a great start, in that it combines the GP movement, the GP large date and the iconic GP Vintage45 case. All reasons why the Vintage45 is the most popular line by GP, with the large date to be among the most popular models!
At the same time, maybe another proof why a GP timepiece should be seen on the wrist. Any GP is made to be worn and not to look nice in the catalogue in first degree :-)

And it´s a nice picture!

And well, i hope your wife does not mind too much :-)
In case you need to find something for her, a matching mini Lady Vintage45 might be the way to go :-)

That explains why. Unfortunately, however, I can not use my screen name "MdV" anymore since it seems that it's not unique.........

By the way: is this lay-out the definitive version ? IMHO it seems a bit crowded and less pleasant to read.

let me look into it.
Actually "screen name" and "login" are the same and this makes a difference towards the old system. Now you do not have to put in the screen name before posting, which we found to be easier and an improvement.
It should indeed read "MdV" instead of anonymous, so the tech guys might find the solution.

There is a bit more to come!
The current look might change a bit and we are about to add some more benefits.
So please bear with us :-)

3.2 mg pxl Pentax Optio S.  A simple Point and shoot camera w/ a built in Macro.  I am contemplating either waiting for the possibility of the Canon 3d, but am currently considering either the 30D or 5D, but price is also a factor.

Hmm. Coming from and with a 20D, the 30D offers a lot for the money.
If a full frame sensor, which is demanding for some lenses and best used with the higher-end optics, is not a necessity, the 30D may do the trick. Or a 400D.

Nonetheless, the previous shots of the "USA-71" certainly do speak for the Pentax!

for some reason, the picture does not appear. What a pity!
But there´s a workaround and a cool trick of the new software, in that you can submit a posting and picture by email!
Just click on the email icon and there is some help function to explain what needs to be done!
