A question re big date moonphase in Vintage 1945 case

Hi,
I've got my eye on a Big Date Moonphase in Vintage 1945 case. I'm relatively unsophisticated about movements and horological refinements, but I've read ei8htoms' excellent article and have a question, before going forward with my purchase. At the conclusion of his article, John implies that the rivetted or friction fit attachments are acceptable but improvable. I'm not familiar with the evolution of the watch but am wondering if there have been multiple releases since its introduction or if the NIB examples still for sale on the market (AD and otherwise) are from a single initial release. And further, if there have been multiple releases, has the movement been refined? Should I talk to the dealer from whom I'm considering purchasing the watch about it's date of manufacture?
I would be grateful for any advice related to this potential purchase.
Many thanks,
Peter
